Definitely, the technological benefits that today can be found in the different models of cameras, especially those with PTZ characteristics, have awakened a special dynamic of quality in the offer that can be found in the Latin American video surveillance market.
by Santiago Jaramillo Hincapié
For some time now, there has been talk that the electronic security industry in the Latin American region is experiencing a special moment that reflects encouraging growth figures, evidenced mainly in the video surveillance segment.
But it is clear that this good moment is due to several factors, the first obviously is the high insecurity that is experienced in most of the countries of the region, and the manifest need to solve this problem, another fundamental aspect is the policies that have been adopted by local governments in which security went from being a necessity to a latent priority, and this has also been seen by the private sector, which, in line with these policies, is increasingly investing in this aspect.
In response to this situation, manufacturers, and therefore distributors, have sought to live up to these needs by delivering a consistent and current offer, based on the latest technical, innovative advances adapted to the characteristics of our region.
Precisely a product that adapts perfectly to this situation, both for the private and public sector, are the PTZ cameras, which thanks to their own characteristics and perfect adaptability, based on positive results, today enjoy the approval of a good part of the projects that are developed in the region, and in a good part of others are in the folder to be included in the future.
That's why we wanted to bring you for this edition, a small opener of the offer that some manufacturers have. We are talking specifically about outstanding products of the brands Arecont Vision, Axis Communication, Bolide, Bosch, Panasonic and Samsung.
Arecont Vision, AV5155
The AV5155 MegaDomeTM series network camera is part of Arecont Vision's full line of megapixel cameras with H.264 functionality. Axis Comumnication, Q6032
The dome PTZ camera provides 35x optics and 12x digital zoom with autofocus. It allows 360° panning at a speed of 0.05° at 450° per second and an inclination range of 180°. New recording function and an easy configuration to store the PTZ movements generated by the operator including the recording time and the elapsed playback, this is possible only when configured in programmed periods.
"We have experienced great success with this line, so we have extended our portfolio to offer the model for interiors, preserving the range of protection against water and dust," said Fernando Esteban, Regional Sales Manager for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean of Axis Communications.
The extended resolution D1 offers a wider image of 752x480 pixels at 60 Hz and 736x576 pixels at 50 Hz – allowing an increase of 15,400 and 9,200 pixels, respectively, over the standard resolution D1, which has a width of only 720 pixels.
The night and day function allows high image quality to be preserved even in low-light conditions, while support for dynamic range allows objects in dark areas to be visible. The camera provides video sequences in H.264 and video in Motion JPEG simultaneously. To optimize the bandwidth you can use the H.264 option without lowering the image quality.
Bolide, BC1009/PTZAMT
Bolide's BC1009/PTZAMT camera is ideal for Urban Surveillance, Casinos, Airports and Shopping Centers. This camera records at great distances details of great utility for the monitoring of commercial movements and social agglomerations, where the evidence works as a measure of prevention and witness in events harmful to the safety of passers-by, employees and customers.
Due to its large spectrum and its accessible cost in the market, it provides the user with benefits in saving and managing the equipment, since it has a tracking function, in addition to being made of materials resistant to weather and water.
Other special features are its wide and dynamic high-speed PTZ, Motion Tracking, 36x Optical Zoom and 12x Digital Zoom, as well as schedule programming (up to four).
Bosch, PTZ IP 700 Series
The AutoDome 700 Series is an easy-to-install indoor (and outdoor) IP PTZ camera with outstanding video quality. This high-speed dome camera integrates a day/night function that allows you to capture quality images in low light conditions.
The AutoDome Series 700 has direct networking with H.264 and M-JPEG compression, and bandwidth adjustment to efficiently manage all bandwidth requirements, while providing unsurpassed image quality. The AutoDome 700 Series facilitates full network-based control of all dome functions, including PTZ, prepositions, rounds, alarms, as well as network configuration of all dome settings.
The AutoDome Series 700 meets the specifications of ONVIF (Open IP Video Forum). ONVIF compliance ensures interoperability between the AutoDome camera and network video products, regardless of manufacturer.
The AutoDome IP Series 700 cameras offer continuous 360-degree rotation, 28x or 36x optical zoom, and progressive digital scanning of images in sharp videos even when moving objects. The cameras also feature a damp and dusty-proof aluminum housing as it has an IP 66 degree of protection. The AutoDome Series 700 also meets THE specifications of ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Form).
Panasonic, WV-NS950
With the Auto Tracking function, this camera achieves a more accurate detection of individuals, as it memorizes the characteristics of the subjects, including colors, shapes and contrasts. In addition to the Pan and Tilt function, it also has the new Drag and Expand function that allows you to have more precise control and greater smoothness in the changes.
With this feature, the camera captures subjects more clearly and you can work with the tracking lock to identify individuals on the screen when pressing the optional System Controller button. Another smart feature is the digital adaptive noise reduction, where by integrating 2D DNR and 3D DNR, you ensure that you reduce noise in any condition.
The WV-NS950 has among its functions the IR Cut filter that is Activated and Deactivated to ensure an incredible image quality in any environment and moment, both in color and black white.
Another important feature is progressive output with adaptive motion/conversion interlacing, allowing frames to be sharp even when objects are in motion. The Automatic Image Stabilizer is also integrated for all those applications where vibrations and wind could be a problem.
It also has an improved filter and a broadband digital signal processor, which allows the elegant dome to get closer to the subject and observe even the smallest details. The focus is very sharp, thanks to a resolution of 540 TV lines in horizontal resolution, 570 TV lines in B/W and Autofocus.
Samsung, SNP-5300
Samsung's SNP-5300H IP network, PTZ and 1.3-megapixel camera allows users to observe even the smallest detail of people and objects at a great distance without pixelation, thanks to its powerful 30x optical zoom.
Another fundamental feature that has been incorporated into the SNP-5300 model is PoE (Power over Ethernet), which substantially lowers cabling costs and saves installation time, since the power of the camera can be obtained from the Ethernet network. In this way, sufficient energy is achieved for all the performance of the dome and for the integrated heater to work effectively when the outside temperature is up to -30°C.
The SNP-5300H, which replaces the successful SNP-5200H, has an entirely new design. With IP66-rated outer shell, it is smaller and lighter than its predecessor, and is equipped with a fan and heater.
The SNP-5300H, which uses the H.264 and MJPEG compression methods, offers the option to transmit images simultaneously from multiple locations and at different frame rates and resolutions. Up to 10 users can simultaneously monitor live images on a computer, smartphone or tablet using Samsung's free net-i Viewer display software. At the same time, JPEG images of an incident can be attached to an alarm notification sent by email with the ability to store images from before and after the alarm on an internal SD memory card.
