The economy, government regulations, the market, competition and security are some of the factors that the managers and leaders of companies must take into account to lead them. Strategies, management, activities, negotiations and solutions related to the movement of the company, the market and the environment, are the main actions that must be taken for this function.

Regarding what happens in the security industry, Samuel Yacutieli said during his talk "Security as a service" atthe second ALAS Management Summit held in Panama City, that the economy and citizen security present a panorama for companies, in which they must look for a novel model of action that is based on the rental of security equipment rather than on its sale, presenting a higher return on investment.

For his part, Ricardo Martínez presented the Balanced Scorecard, an administration system for security companies that must begin in strategic planning and in the vision that each company has, to make it a reality by measuring its activities based on it. "We have to see the organization in a comprehensive systemic way," he said.

It should be noted that as a common factor, several speakers point to proactivity as an essential point for the achievement of business objectives

But there are not only the strategies to improve economically, it is also necessary to have an internal work of motivation that helps those economic goals are achieved with the joint work of all the staff.

In the conference The management of the XXI century, Julio Sergio Ramírez analyzed the differences between the companies of the twentieth century and the current ones, the most outstanding factors at the time of achieving the success and efficiency of the companies, explaining that in this century it is vital to recognize the profiles of the employees and to know that they go according to different activities and that at the time of the selection process it is necessary to have these factors to have qualified personnel in each area and work.

Motivation is also a success factor, and this was made clear by Eli Magendzo, in his talk: Motivation for the efficiency and productivity of teamwork. "Within organizations there are intrinsic elements that support motivation and at the same time productivity. People who are committed and close to the business, with their own initiative, are able to work as a team with a positive attitude and achieve success," he said.

Management and security

But at the ALAS 2011 Management Summit, not only was there talk of management and strategies, the attendees also learned from the hand of the exhibitors the new developments and trends in protective equipment that are being installed in Latin America, which allowed them to get a complete look at how to manage their company and what else to offer their customers.

Latin America has grown in terms of security system installations. Biometric and smart card access controls, fire and intrusion alarms, urban, business and traffic control surveillance systems, as well as network monitoring solutions, are some of the new technologies that Latin American countries have adopted in recent years.

Luis Alberto Delgado, regional sales manager of Axis Communications for South America – Northern Cone, said that where more new technology products are sold is in Latin America because it reacts faster to changes and people are always inquiring about the new. Systems for citizen surveillance and traffic control are some of the solutions that are being implemented most in the region.

This postulate was complemented by Marcelo Colanero, president of Intelektron, who affirms that, for example in Argentina, urban security solutions have transformed the gaze of citizens and have made it positive, since they thanks to the media realize that cameras help traffic control and reinforce protection.

"The Caribbean market as well as the Latin American market are growing a lot in terms of security. In the field of alarms, communications continue to develop especially in Panama, Costa Rica, Colombia and Mexico," said Marcos Lozano, sales director for Latin America and the Caribbean at AES Intellinet.

Security expansion in Latin America continues to increase. The region presents a market with great possibilities, as antonio Pérez, sales manager for the Caribbean, Central and South America of NVT, said. "In the evolution of the market, the idea is to cover present and future needs, especially in the migration to IP systems."

Regarding access control systems, Marcelo Colanero commented that the Latin American market is maturing and if you want a successful solution you must arm yourself with high efficiency equipment, he also assures that the demand for these identification and control systems such as biometrics has increased in the region.

In the same vein, Víctor Romero, international sales manager of Acrosoft, explained that in attendance control the trend of the industry is to focus on facial biometric technology, because with the footprint there are limitations due to the wear of it.

The ALAS Management Summit is a space where administration and engineering come together. Attendees can learn about new trends in management, as well as the changes and improvements that a company must have to stay current. He also presents the novelties in equipment that supports this business development, as expressed by Ronit González, operations manager of Americ, A.C. (Mexican Association of Companies in the Field of Construction Facilities, A.C.).

The third version of the Management Summit will take place in Cancun on August 29 and 30, 2012.
