3-way communication for alarm systems

altIt is well known that it is very rare to solve complex problems with a single action, in general a combination of strategies is required, more when it comes to alarm systems.

By Nestor Gluj*

Fortunately, sooner or later, someone finds a way to put the necessary parts together and combine them in order to achieve the goal.

This in the case of the communication of the alarm panels with the Monitoring Centers.

This problem is not minor, because communication is the basis of the provision of the service and if the reports do not arrive in a timely manner, the service loses meaning.

Historically, the communication of home alarms began by telephone, since the wireless solutions that many sought had prohibitive values.
Later RF Radio systems reached the market at possible values, which although they were always in force then ceded a little ground to the communicators who operate on the cellular network, first on voice channel and more modernly on GPRS data channel, leaving the Radio Systems for those companies with high security standards.

However, in recent years, with the constant multiplication of SmartPhones and the decreasing quality of voice and data services of Cellular Operators in Latin America, the stability throughout the day of communication on these networks was compromised.

In general, GPRS transmitters are of good quality, but the highway through which they send their packages has significant variations in traffic throughout the day and geographical areas.

With this, RF Radio technologies, especially those of architecture with IP cells, as is the case of Dx Control, were and are increasingly demanded, because they do not present congestions and their geographical coverage is easy to extend through Listening Modules that receive radio and forward the Transmissions via the Internet to the Central and Repeater Modules that in addition to the above forward by RF if the aforementioned internet connection fails.

This system is very stable and easy to implement by installing the aforementioned modules (of adequate price), ahead of the GPRS with its greater immunity to the known and feared "Jammers" interfering with the cell phone and wifi bands, in addition to avoiding monthly costs with the Cellular Operators.

What was missing was a mixed solution, Radio RF + GPRS + Line, with the benefits of both, that would allow TWO WIRELESS LINKS OF DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGY and that also contemplated the transmission by telephone, that is, A THIRD WIRED WAY.

Thus came the DX 3S Transmitter from Dx Control, which allows RADIO, GPRS and Bridge for the telephone line, all in one and with a price only slightly higher than a Radio Transmitter.

The Solution has provided Plug & Play functions to make installation easier, such as signal meter and signaling of transmission and reception, either by GPRS or by Radio with their respective scopes, as well as auto APN, auto ID and IP pre-registration (for Providers who wish it), which allows you to go to install without any previous programming.

It supports interactive COMMANDS by DTMF, from internal telephone devices or from outside with cell phones, as well as by GPRS or SMS to operate the outputs and send reports.

It is capable of sending SMS Messages WITH PROGRAMMABLE TEXTS and has built-in ON-LINE Electronic Guard Supervisor functions.

It is backward compatible with the entire Dx Control Contact-ID family and it is enough to add a Software module called DX Virtual Receiver (RV DX) to include the GPRS path in the installed Radio Bases.

Undoubtedly, this combination of technologies will be very suitable to return peace of mind to Monitoring Providers and will allow them to continue growing in their businesses.

To close, perhaps we can take the audacity to make a parallel with the famous phrase of Clemenceau (prime minister and head of government during the regime of the French Third Republic): "War is too serious a matter to leave in the hands of the military"... saying, "Security is too important to be left to a single technology."
