ICTs and security, working together?

The Internet, that Network that reaches everyone has really changed the landscape of most industries and security is no exception.

The creation of CCTV was a great development, the best known security system, but thanks to technological developments this Closed Circuit Television presented many more changes and went from being closed to open thanks to the use of ICTs to deliver the data.
10 or eight years ago talking about IP transmission was complex, it is more in 2007 when I asked several industry professionals about the transfer of data on IP and GSM technologies, they said that although their implementation was advancing they presented many inconveniences due to the topology of Latin America, but today the panorama is different.
Now ICTs and security go hand in hand, support each other and strengthen each other to provide protection in all spheres. Reports of access controls, cameras, alarms, among other equipment can be monitored from cell phones, tablets, computers, etc., and from anywhere in the world; every day this is more like a fictional movie I saw as a child ... or the book that said that in 2000 we would live on the Moon, although that has not happened, yet.
In the last Expo Seguridad México the trend was marked by digital equipment, convergence with IT technology and telecommunications, but beyond this, it is worth asking what happens to the security of networks and data that now travel over the Internet.
During the week of ESM (April 12 to 14) the Ministry of the Interior and Justice of Colombia, as well as the page of the Presidency and Government Online were hacked and "knocked down" and ... if they hack the Government, which we assume have very good security, what can happen to a company?
This is when it is worth asking how are we protecting the data that travels through the network? Manufacturers, distributors, integrators, installers, I believe that now our goal is computer security linked to ICTs and electronics.
I invite you to send me your comments, anecdotes or suggestions to [email protected]
