Commitment, professionalism and innovation

altWorking together with other professionals to make the security industry grow more and more, is one of the slogans of the professional of the month of this edition.

by Alejandra García Vélez

For Christian Uriel Solano, president and CEO of Security One Argentina, the Argentine electronic security market is characterized by being one of the most qualified in Latin America, in addition to having high-level technicians and engineers, which allows to promote an increasingly strong and professional industry.

Solano, is the guest of this edition as Professional of the month and in his conversation with VENTAS DE SEGURIDAD highlighted that the security sector has achieved in the last ten years a positive evolution that has led to the growth of manufacturing and distribution companies that are part of the market.

The above statement can be made thanks to its experience as an exclusive distributor for Argentina of one of the most recognized brands of security products, HIKVISION, and in general for its work within this field.

But, to get to know this professional better, you have to start from the beginning of the story.  Christian Solano is a native of Buenos Aires, where he studied business administration and, at the same time, began working in the field of computer product distribution.

In addition, he took various courses on IT and financial management, and after graduating travel to work in different countries. Initially, Solano settled in Sao Paulo, Brazil, for a period of two years, where he worked in an IT product distribution company.

Later he would settle in the United States for 4 years to create and direct a purchasing and logistics office for the Brazilian company in which he worked. Faced with that stage of his career, he explained that "they were years in which I was able to learn a lot from other professionals and also know how to work in other regions and cultures of the world different from ours."

And he added that "that work allowed me to travel and visit several countries in the East and Europe, regions in which most of the products are produced, and interact with manufacturers more closely."

As he explains, during his work in computer product distribution companies, he was able to visit various product exhibitions in the United States, Europe and China, where he met and became interested for the first time in digital video capture, compression and recording technologies for CCTV.

In this way, he also made contact with manufacturers of analog cameras for CCTV and incorporated in the companies where he worked new product lines oriented to digital CCTV, taking advantage of the fact that at that time the technological change between analog recording on magnetic tapes and digital recording on pc and dedicated equipment began.

From scratch

With the knowledge acquired in those years, Solano ventured to return to his native country and start his first project independently, so in 2001 he founded, together with his partner and childhood friend the Engineer Favio Scaletta, the company Security One Argentina.

The guest describes his company as a company dedicated to providing solutions in integration of electronic security systems, and is also since 2008 the official distributor for Argentina of Hikvision products.

About that union, Solano explained that when they worked as integrators they carried out projects using different technologies, until they found a supplier, Hikvision, which at that time was taking its first steps in the world market, hence a professional relationship was born that was strengthened over the years.

2008 was an important year for the company led by Solano, because in addition to the distribution agreement already mentioned, they decided to enter as active partners to the Argentine Chamber of Electronic Security CASEL, which allowed them to participate in the different activities and working groups of the association. "So we were able to bring time, ideas and expertise to our industry," Solano said.

The invited professional was also proud and grateful for the role he has been able to represent within the Chamber. In 2010 he was appointed as a Member and entered the board of directors of the Chamber and this year he was assigned Treasurer of the organization.

In addition to the above, in 2011 he served as a full professor of the certification course of Suitable in Electronic Security CASEL and COPITEC (Professional Council of Telecommunications, Electronics and Computer Engineering), in addition to serving as a teacher of the E.Learning course that will be held this year for all of Latin America.

Solano points to CASEL as his great pillar and inspiration, affirming that thanks to this organization he has had the honor of sharing activities with outstanding professionals in the industry such as Eng. Greenberg (Current President of CASEL), Mr. Marcelo Colanero, Eng. Eduardo Capelo, Mr. Daniel Banda and Eng. Eduardo Casarino, who have been his great advisors.

Values

The knowledge of the teams and the market is not the only important thing when looking for the success of a company, the corporate values and the principles that govern what making all the professionals involved is fundamental to achieve the best results.

In that sense, Solano pointed out that, as a commercial company, its objective is to obtain profits or dividends for its shareholders, make a contribution to society and create work, but all this without neglecting the role that corresponds to them as generators of an increasingly better security industry.

Therefore, said Solano, "we take the work and administration of our company with great responsibility knowing that we are an important link for the industry to continue growing and the contribution to our society is increasing."

To achieve the above, the professional of the month said that he seeks to comply with some basic values such as honesty, commitment, integrity, excellence, professionalism, innovation and creativity.
