31/03/2011. The current situation of violence and insecurity in Mexico, as in other countries of the world, has forced companies and individuals to invest more and more in equipment, systems and insurance against theft and other patrimonial crimes and against life.
According to the results of the survey on insecurity and victimization of citizens, in 2009 individuals spent on average 5,600 pesos in that year on protection measures, while the security market for companies grew from 4,000 million pesos to 5,800 million pesos in the country without counting the public sector that has made millionaire investments.
The spokesman of the Expo-Security Mexico, 2011 Mario Arroyo said at a press conference that the security market is growing and not because there is a real bonanza in this regard, but because Mexican society has a growing perception of insecurity and violence, since 80% of people feel vulnerable to this type of event.
He also pointed out that the interest in having personal, business and life security measures is also growing, to the extent that citizens in particular are currently looking for measures that help them feel safer in the face of the conditions that are lived in the country.
He explained that in this Expo-Security Mexico 2011 will have to participate national and international exhibitors, with products and systems, as well as software dedicated especially to provide security not only to police corporations, but to private security companies, as well as to people in the private field.
This exhibition will take place from April 12 to 14, at the Banamex Center where there will be business spaces for meetings between entrepreneurs, as well as a wide agenda of conferences with international personalities such as the former president of Colombia Álvaro Uribe, among others.
In the security sample, various security technologies for mass events will also have to be presented, as well as mobile control centers and equipment that guarantee security when events are presented to which many people attend and in which the conditions of healthy coexistence must be maintained through permanent monitoring.
The spokesman for this exhibition said that investments in equipment, weapons and security technology have been significantly boosted by government actions and decisions such as the Subsidy for Security in Municipalities (SUBSEMUN), which this year is more than 4,000 million pesos distributed among the 220 municipalities and delegations with the highest criminal incidence.
He said that in the case of Mexican households, individuals have decided to invest more in the security measures of their private home, as well as in personal security and the main additional expenses that are made are in metal protections to doors and windows, lifting of fences and perimeter security.
Another of the security sectors that registers an increase in investment is the armoring, both of vehicles and real estate, which guarantees that if there is an attack or attempted violent robbery, the safety of employees or inhabitants of the properties is guaranteed.
He said that the crimes most feared by Mexican society are kidnappings, extortion and intentional homicides, since they are the ones that register the greatest growth in incidence levels, so there is a growing demand for prevention systems against these illicit acts.
As for companies in general in Mexico, he pointed out that 20 years ago, the average expenditure of companies on security measures was 5% of their income, while at the beginning of the last decade this had already increased to 10% and currently the investments of companies in this matter is between 15% and 20% of their income.
He said that the interest in the safety of companies and people is reflected in their own statistics, since during the edition of this exhibition last year, they had 17,000 visitors, while two weeks away from the exhibition, this time there are already more than 15,000 pre-registrations through the Internet.
He said that 350 exhibitors and companies from 10 countries in the region will participate in this edition, which will allow an exchange of technology and products that will offer the possibility of generating better programs, plans and strategies for personal and public safety.
