Nokia officials have been forced to temporarily shut down its website for developers after a hacker managed to circumvent security and access personal data of its members. The company has acknowledged that the attackers have managed to access "a database with the email addresses of the members of the developer forum." The attack occurred through a SQL injection that was possible thanks to the existence of a vulnerability in the software. Users who visited the attacked website were redirected to another page that showed an image of Homer Simpson with the subtitle: "The world's number one mobile company does not spend a penny for server security!" In addition to email addresses, hackers have also accessed, although to a lesser extent, dates of birth, web addresses or usernames of platforms such as MSN, Skype or Yahoo. Those responsible for the security area of Nokia have clarified that the most sensitive data, such as passwords or banking information, have not been compromised and ensure that for the moment they have not been aware that hackers are making "improper use" of the stolen data. In any case, the company is contacting the affected developers to warn them that they may be subject to phishing attacks and spam campaigns. "Even though the initial vulnerability was addressed immediately, we have maintained the offline developer community site as a precautionary measure while we conduct further investigations," Nokia reports, "we hope to get the site back online as soon as possible."
