With a distinctly annoying tone, Fauvet said they are fed up with all those companies that are tricking their users into downloading malware and distributing deceptive versions of VLC without them conforming to the GPL license.
"What bothers us the most is that many of them are packaging VLC with various crapware to monetize in ways that trick our users into thinking they are downloading an original version. This is not acceptable," he added.
According to Fauvet, pinballcorp.com and eorezo.com/tuto4pc.com are the two largest companies that use VLC to distribute their trash, although there are many more.
To avoid falling victim to these companies, it is always best to download VLC, or any other application, from the official website of the project.
