The Secretariat of Public Security of the capital (SSP-DF) reported a white balance during the development of the March for Peace and Justice that culminated in a rally in the Zócalo of the capital, during which the poet Javier Sicilia demanded the resignation of the federal Secretary of Public Security, Genaro García Luna.
Through a statement, the SSP-DF said that the mobilization, which began in the vicinity of Ciudad Universitaria, ended without incident and was supervised at all times by the security cabinet of the capital government, which was located in the Crisis Control Room of the agency.
During the ceremony, the local president, Marcelo Ebrard, led the secretaries of Public Security, Manuel Mondragón; of Government, José Ángel Ávila, and the prosecutor Miguel Ángel Mancera, who remained aware of the development of the activities.
The SSP-DF also commissioned proximity police and the Undersecretariat of Traffic Control to safeguard the safety of the participants and the mobility of citizens.
He recalled that the first contingent left this morning from Ciudad Universitaria and headed towards the Plaza de la Constitución, where it arrived at approximately 4:30 p.m. through the avenues of the Insurgents, University, Bicentennial Circuit, Central Axis and May 5.
The demonstration departed from Cuernavaca, Morelos, last Thursday and since Friday reached the territory of the Federal District. From that moment on, the transit and security mechanism around the contingent was implemented.
