13/04/2011. Cameras with infrared and thermal vision, scaners with integrated X-ray equipment, 360-degree motion detectors, multipurpose vehicles with communication and logistics equipment are some of the most technologically advanced equipment on display at Expo Seguridad 2011.
Due to its size, this is considered the main commercial security event in Mexico and Latin America.
More than 330 companies participate with their stands; 35 percent are Mexican, 35 percent are State
United and Canada, and 15 percent from Asia, 10 percent from Europe, and the rest from Latin America and Africa.
For their number and type, security cameras stand out, which allow recording images in high definition and are stored on micro memory cards that can be used in any computer.
Most of these devices have anti-vandal containers for indoors and outdoors, double sequence videos, support for two-way audio, external alarm, and even e-mail notification systems in case of any novelty.
Multipurpose vehicles are another of the highlights in this year's edition of the Security Expo, both for their size, as well as for their capacity for functions, communications and mobility.
In an interview Jorge del Bosque, director of TSM, one of the companies that offer this type of vehicle, stressed that we live in a "risk society" where extreme prevention and safety measures are required.
"What we do is bring together the existing cutting-edge technology in public safety and civil protection, and merge it with the automotive industry," he said.
This has allowed the design of vehicles for the transfer of hazardous substances, others that serve as mobile hospitals in disaster areas, and vans used as mobile offices and electronic collection modules.
The most advanced units are large vehicles or trailers that are used as command controls and multipurpose immediate response, which have security cameras, transmitter radios and satellite reception antennas.
Clothing and bodywork with different levels of armor are products present in several modules of the Expo and in which the protection they provide in contrast to their weight and wingspan much lighter than that of previous years stands out.
Highlights include the Power Hit bulletproof vest, designed by the company Bullet International, to withstand the impact of bullets of thick caliber with only four layers of armor.
Other items on display are metal and weapon scanners, fingerprint and biometric readers, card checkers, digital image transmitters, electronic alarms, smart fire detectors, among others.
Expo Seguridad 2011 began on April 12 and will continue in development until tomorrow at the convention center located in front of the Hippodrome of the Americas.
