International. Milestone Systems, the open platform company in IP video management software (VMS), announced that Bosch's AVIOTEC camera is the 5milth device in the wide count of third-party devices that operate with the XProtect® VMS and enjoy Milestone support.
Milestone's VMS is interoperable with the full range of Bosch cameras, including its video analysis solutions, access control and now the AVIOTEC smoke and fire detection camera. This update was included in Milestone Device Pack 8.4, released on February 25 of this year.
Milestone has for years maintained a collaborative relationship with Bosch Security Systems, a company that is part of the Camera Partner Program (CaPP) and is a Milestone Solutions Partner (MSP).
The recognition for the "5milth Device with Milestone Support" was presented to Brad Eck, Bosch Integration Manager for North America; He was also hosted by Brian Wiser, Bosch's President of Sales for North America, during the Milestone Integration Platform Symposium (MIPS), the annual Conference of Partners from the Americas of the leading VMS provider. The event was organized in Scottsdale, Arizona, and was attended by 500 professionals from the security industry.
Leveraging Bosch's intelligent video analysis (VAT), video fire detection can serve as a complement to state-of-the-art fire detection technologies and enables early detection of smoke and flames, with very low rates of false alarms, especially in demanding environments where conventional detectors fail to achieve satisfactory reaction times. Among the main applications of this solution are buildings with high ceilings or dusty and wet areas. AVIOTEC can also offer protection to environments where no other reliable fire detection solution exists, for example, sawmills or paper mills, hangars or monitoring of extremely large areas.
Faster detection, at source
Through the use of intelligent algorithms in video surveillance cameras, AVIOTEC can identify smoke and flames as soon as they reach the camera's range radius, instead of waiting for smoke to reach the detectors that are usually installed on the roof of buildings. By detecting fires at their point of origin, rather than on rooftops, cameras can emit an alarm in seconds, unlike point detectors that can take minutes (fundamental minutes) to detect an alarm situation. AVIOTEC employs intelligent algorithms to differentiate between real fires and disturbance values such as reflections, movements or backlighting. This ensures more reliable detection with a false alarm rate close to zero.
The AVIOTEC video fire detection system allows you to seamlessly scale from a single camera to a network system of distributed cameras with a center console and video management system like Milestone's XProtect®. Using Bosch dynamic transcoding technology, AVIOTEC can relay alarms to an existing fire alarm panel or transmit them via Ethernet to a monitoring center or mobile device such as an iPad, thanks to low bandwidth requirements. The ability to receive real-time high-quality video footage with HD resolution allows firefighters to have a proper understanding of the situation, even before arriving at the scene of the incident.
Security and protection with a single solution
Unlike smoke and flame detectors, these new cameras are easy to install and require very little maintenance. The use of Power over Ethernet (PoE) can eliminate the need for individual power supplies and cables, making AVIOTEC an even more economical solution that can be used in very small, distributed installations such as power stations and signal boxes, where it would be too expensive to install fire detection panels.
"This recognition of AVIOTEC as the 5milth device supported by our software reiterates the close collaboration between Milestone and Bosch. Both companies believe in the ability of collaboration to create value for our customers through interoperable solutions," said Kenneth Hune Petersen, director of sales and marketing at Milestone Systems.
"Congratulations to Milestone for integrating the 5milth device! We are pleased that Bosch's AVIOTEC has become part of this wide range of joint and integrated Milestone solutions. AVIOTEC is an innovative camera for detecting fires through video, whose design incorporates Bosch's powerful video analysis solution at the edge," said Bernhard Schuster, Executive Vice President of Bosch Security Systems.
Bosch demonstrated AVIOTEC's new fire detection solution and other products at MIPS. Find her coming soon at the ISC West trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 5-8.
