Latin American. Lenovo and Nutanix announce the strategic business alliance to develop, market and sell a new family of hyperconverged devices, branded Lenovo, and under Nutanix software.
The combination of converged storage and virtualization and server services in an integrated web-scale appliance helps simplify data center management and can lead to substantial IT cost savings. In this sense, both companies have committed to develop a hyperconverged infrastructure that allows IT organizations to focus on their strategic applications and services, also offering a compelling alternative to public cloud services.
Hyperconvergence combines high-reliability server platforms with advanced software to build data centers with private cloud environments that offer the same agility, scalability, and fractional consumption of public clouds. This agreement will enable Lenovo to continue its legacy of innovation and commitment to world-class engineering, and its vision for how IT will evolve over the next decade. Lenovo's global reach, even in fast-growing markets such as China, will provide this trade partnership with an accelerated path to market in critical industry segments.
The two companies will introduce a new family of hyperconverged devices built on Lenovo's industry-leading enterprise systems (number one in satisfaction1 and reliability2, according to customers), and powered by Nutanix's award-winning software. The joint solution will include many of Intel's® latest technologies and run nearly all workloads, including enterprise applications, databases, virtualized desktops and big data analytics, with increased efficiency and scalability.
To take advantage of the growing demand for hyperconverged platforms, Lenovo is executing considerable investments in a specialized and dedicated world-class sales team. The combined solution will also be marketed by Lenovo's channel partners worldwide, as well as Lenovo's various commercial teams. In addition, Lenovo and Nutanix plan to make investments in platform engineering and development, as well as an aggressive go-to-market approach.
"Lenovo can bring a new perspective to the global enterprise space. We don't have the need to protect old habits of thought or ingrained ideas. Instead, we can build our business from innovation, and freely partner with the most innovative and leading companies in this space to create new solutions," said Yang Yuanqing, President and CEO of Lenovo. "The leadership of Nutanix's proven technology, coupled with our global footprint, will allow both companies to thrive while helping customers dramatically reduce the complexity of data centers of all sizes."
"Lenovo is an undisputed leader in multiple technology markets, and has earned the trust of thousands of companies around the world for its innovative, high-quality products," said Dheeraj Pandey, CEO and Founder of Nutanix. "The partnership with Lenovo is therefore a crucial milestone on our path to developing invisible infrastructure, with the efficiency of web scaling technology and the power of categorized design for the consumer, for businesses of all sizes."
Lenovo and Nutanix plan to jointly announce the new solutions next month at the Data Center, Infrastructure & Operations Management Conference, which Gartner will host in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"Enterprises are looking for simpler solutions to solve their storage problems, and Intel is deeply committed to working with data center leaders to bring these solutions to market. We are collaborating with both Lenovo and Nutanix to drive enterprise optimization of server and storage solutions based on Intel architecture. The devices resulting from this collaboration will benefit from multiple Intel technologies while providing the market with easy-to-deploy solutions," said Diane Bryant, senior vice president and general manager of the Data Center Unit at Intel Corporation.
"Nutanix has been a key player in the emerging hyperconvergence market, being the earliest to demonstrate the existing demand for this technology," said Matt Eastwood, senior vice president in IDC's Data Center and Enterprise Infrastructure Unit. "This OEM partnership between Lenovo and Nutanix goes beyond typical alliances; it encompasses joint engineering, marketing actions and a dedicated sales team. Combined with Lenovo's global reach, this business partnership with Nutanix will accelerate the impact of hyperconverged infrastructure in new markets."
