Bosch launches in-store video analytics solution for retailers

Latin America. Bosch Security Systems introduces In-Store Analytics, a solution that provides merchants with valuable information about in-store traffic in order to improve operations, customer interaction and sales.

As part of the solution, Bosch panoramic IP cameras are installed in order to provide excellent visibility of store spaces. The cameras use integrated Intelligent Video Analytics in order to generate position data of buyers' movements.

The data is sent directly to the cloud where it is processed without video streams leaving the customer's premises, which respects the privacy of buyers. Unlike many systems that require computers installed on-site to pre-process video streams, limiting their operation to a few cameras per installation, Bosch's solution easily scales to encompass even large commercial warehouses with many cameras and chain stores.

In the cloud, position data is analyzed in detail to convert it into performance results and visualizations that are shared with merchants through custom web interfaces for operations managers and exhibitors.

For exhibitors, In-Store Analytics provides insights into shopper behavior in order to make better-informed decisions. Often, retail sales of products depend on their placement in stores and at what point shoppers can see the items on their way through the store. In-Store Analytics provides exhibitors with in-store traffic visualization tools, such as flow analysis, to determine whether shoppers are moving around the store as intended. The solution shows where they walk, stop and stroll, and provides performance metrics such as interaction times and speeds, based on the actual number and behavior of shoppers in front of a counter. This helps merchants evaluate the performance of each counter in their store, while providing them with information needed to increase customer interaction with products, which can lead to higher sales and revenue.

For COOs, In-Store Analytics provides traffic information at the department and store level. COOs can use this information tool to ensure that there are enough staff in stores to serve shoppers during peak hours. Traffic data also allows merchants to track the quality of service over time.

"In-Store Analytics was developed based on input from merchants who emphasized the value of useful data," explains Chris Larcinese, regional marketing manager at Bosch Security Systems.

Merchants will benefit from the useful information provided by the solution, as the shopper data provided by In-Store Analytics has a high level of accuracy. This is due to the increased reliability of standard Intelligent Video Analytics on Bosch FLEXIDOME IP panoramic 7000 MP cameras, as well as advanced cloud processing algorithms that filter shoppers' position data based on individual in-store environments.
