Milestone announces the arrival of the Husky M20

Latin America.  Milestone Systems announces the arrival of Milestone's Husky M20 NVR, which comes with NVR-optimized Milestone XProtect Professional video management software installed. This NVR was designed with observations made by members of the Milestone community in mind, among which the need for fast-install video solutions is becoming increasingly pressing.

Installation of this high-performance unit is quick and easy, for the benefit of Milestone's community partners, who are confident of finding in the Milestone Husky M20 an essential, quick-to-install component for the easy deployment of enterprise video solutions. The software that comes with the recorder is a version of the XProtect Professional optimized for network video recorders, with Smart Start features, which allow automatic configuration of compatible cameras when connected to the Husky M20. Smart Start configuration features enable automatic camera detection, automatic assignment of IP addresses, automatic assignment of camera storage to hard drives for load balancing, as well as automatic assignment of the camera to a display in XProtect.

Milestone's Husky M20 features an integrated 8- or 16-port manageable switch, capable of supplying power to connected devices (PoE+). This means that up to 16 cameras with PoE support can be connected directly to the M20, with little or no installation or configuration action. The 16-port version of Milestone's Husky M20 has enough power for a total of up to 24 cameras, with expansion possibilities.

These features make this NVR a solution with really automatic configuration. Supported cameras are automatically turned on and configured in the VMS. Then, they start showing the video. The merits of this solution should be attributed to open platform technology.

The hardware is based on Intel's latest Skylake architecture making it a high-performance but low-power drive. The M20 is a 2U rackmount unit that houses two disk drives that can be replaced by users, making them easy to install and maintain. Using XProtect software allows the Milestone Husky M20 to be part of a large video network, connect to other compatible Milestone Husky NVRs or XProtect Professional Milestone systems in a master-slave configuration.

The Milestone Customer Dashboard online monitoring service allows Milestone's business partners to monitor the health of customers' systems, allowing them to offer a proactive service to ensure there are no disruptions to operations. The Milestone Customer Dashboard monitoring service employs milestone Care Plus support services. The disc subsystem allows a recording speed of 200Mbit/s, thanks to which it is possible to use the latest megapixel cameras.

The system includes four low-voltage I/O ports for alarm use.  This means that Milestone's Husky M20 can be used, with compatible software, as a basic alarm system. It could be with door controllers to achieve a simple access control system or with any other type of industry standard controllers. This opens up a whole new range of opportunities for the Milestone partner community.

"The Milestone Husky M20 is another step in our commitment to delivering the most valuable solutions to partners and customers in our community," said Janne Jakobsen, vice president of professional products at Milestone Systems. "We set out to build the most easy-to-install NVR in our industry, so that by combining it with the cameras of our partner community it would give our integrators the simplest and most reliable installation experience in high-quality video solutions," he concluded.

Milestone's Husky M20 will ship from the fourth quarter of 2016.
