International. Fortinet announced that it was certified in Virus Bulletin's new VBWeb Comparative Review, offering superior protection against web-based threats. Fortinet was the only company to publicly share its results from the first independent third-party test on its security effectiveness for web filtering services.
The web filtering service is designed to protect customers from malicious content, such as compromised websites, malvertising campaigns, and the vulnerability of browser plugins, before malware can reach local networks.
Fortinet's FortiGuard Web Filtering Service blocked 97.7% of direct malware downloads and stopped 83.5% of malware through all proven download methods, easily exceeding the 70% limit set by Virus Bulletin
Fortinet is the first and only security provider to become certified due to the security effectiveness of its web filtering service. Fortinet continues to earn more certifications and validations in independent and third-party testing than any other vendor in the industry.
Virus Bulletin's VBWeb test is the first in the industry to challenge web filtering solutions from different vendors in rigorous real-world scenarios, including malicious URLs capable of downloading malware, in addition to other threats such as HTML pages that force browsers to download and/or install malware in the background.
Web filtering is one of the first lines of defense in the comprehensive security strategy of organizations, balancing the protection for the user against suspicious web content, against appropriate access to the web by the same, without having to stop productivity. As such, security solutions must block at least 70% of the total malware to become VBWeb certified.
