System for monitoring energy use and flow in multiple circuits

Mexico. Panasonic Corporation launched a new equipment for monitoring energy use and consumption in commercial, industrial and office spaces, it is the Eco-Power Meter KW2M-A, capable of measuring both the consumption and the quality of the energy flow in multiple circuits.

The system identifies and locates specific devices that are wasting energy, which will help companies correct faults and maintain oversight that helps optimize the organization's energy resources.

Monitoring energy use is essential to obtain historical data and measurements that allow comparing the energy consumption of a wide range of variants. It is also increasingly common to measure the quality of the flow of energy, as it is very common that it is not always stable and presents failures or cuts, in addition to sudden changes in voltage.

In general, a distribution panel can present many points of measurement of energy consumption. And the more points required to be measured, the greater the investment in wiring, materials and labor needed to integrate an energy monitoring system, in addition to its integration into a data network for communication.

The Panasonic Eco-Power Meter KW2M-A is designed to solve the above challenges, since in addition to the measurement characteristics it offers the possibility of expanding its functions to multiple circuits. Each KW2M-A unit is capable of monitoring a couple of circuits, but by integrating up to three expansion units, the system will be able to monitor up to eight circuits, resulting in considerable savings in wiring, labor, diverse materials, and space.

The system offers Web Server functionality and has connectivity options to facilitate its communication within Ethernet and RS485 networks, resulting in more options for its integration into an organization's information systems. All settings and future firmware updates can be made remotely via communication with the Ethernet port.

By identifying blind spots where energy is wasted, the KW2M-A not only helps to reduce its consumption, it also contributes to preventive maintenance programs of equipment and facilities, as it provides a clear visualization of data that will be very useful for the responsible supervisors.

The KW2M-A Eco-Power Meter and the consulting and integration services associated with the system are available through the Panasonic solutions group of Mexico and the expert staff of the B2B Energy Solutions category.
