Latin America. HID Global launched the ActivID Tap Authentication platform that enables convenient and secure multi-factor authentication of cloud applications and web services.
HID Global's new ActivID Tap Authentication platform for Microsoft® allows users to easily and conveniently access Office365 and other cloud applications and web services by simply pressing their smart card against NFC (Near Field Communications) laptops, tablets, phones and other devices.
The solution employs award-winning Seos credentials, enabling organizations to implement a consistent "touch" system when it is required to enter both through doors and into cloud applications.
Tim Phipps, vice president of product marketing for HID Global's Identity Assurance division, "ActivID Tap Authentication is designed to improve both security and the user experience in a wide variety of corporate applications and in environments where 20 or more logins may be required daily to access corporate data and services."
He added: "As the first solution to employ our authentication service, ActivID Tap Authentication for Microsoft reduces the need for complex passwords and lessens the dangerous password fatigue syndrome: users who create extremely simple passwords that they repeat across sites. With this alternative, users will be able – like never before – to make the most of a single smart card to seamlessly access data, log into cloud resources and open doors."
The new product allows you to authenticate identification across applications and services across multiple endpoint devices and without the need to remember and re-enter additional codes and passwords. ActivID Tap Authentication for Microsoft is tightly integrated with Microsoft Server 2012 R2 Federation Services and HID Global's Authentication Cloud Service. The service does not require the payment of additional annual maintenance and support fees and both client software and user licenses are part of a flexible subscription fee allocation model.
"With the ActivID Tap Authentication service built on top of Active Directory Federation Services software, it makes it easier for IT teams to manage different user multiple access scenarios and their passwords, eliminating the need for employees and other users to remember, extract and track multiple passwords," said Andrew Conway. Senior Director, Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Product Marketing.
The solution includes ActivID Tap Authentication Provider, Tap App for Android, Tap Client for Windows 7, Authentication Cloud Services, HID Global Seos smart cards, and an optional OMNIKEY USB reader for Windows 7 computers without built-in NFC readers.
