Latin America. Genetec announced the launch of the latest generation of IP cameras for license plate recognition (ALPR), the AutoVu Sharp and the AutoVu SharpX.
The new cameras allow simultaneous detection of a variety of license plate models, and capture license plates from different countries and states/provinces/departments in the same system. Customers also benefit from new vehicle behavior and feature analytics, plus the ability to install up to four high-resolution ALPR cameras in a vehicle, for nearly 360° capture.
The new AutoVu Sharp and SharpX cameras are now available through the global network of system integrators and certified business partners. These latest Sharp and SharpX cameras go beyond ALPR, offering feature and behavior analytics, and can analyze a vehicle that has been scanned to identify the model and origin of the country and state/province/department of the license plate.
The direction and speed of the vehicle can also be detected with a single ALPR camera, allowing the end user to collect and see trends over time, and automatically detect suspicious behavior.
"We believe the importance of ALPR cameras extends beyond license plate analysis, and our latest generation of AutoVu Sharp and SharpX cameras provides a way to extend features to identify vehicles, trends, and patterns," said Stephan Kaiser, General Manager of AutoVu, Genetec. "Whether in the areas of a city, or on private property, the advanced analytics of sharp and SharpX introduce important new methodologies in the detection of complex vehicle behaviors, along with powerful and new data mining possibilities," Kaiser added.
The AutoVu SharpX also takes advantage of additional available processing power that offers new configuration options. Customers can now install up to four units of SharpX high-resolution cameras in a single processing unit, reducing equipment costs while simplifying installation and maintenance.
Users who are on the move (in a vehicle) can reach almost 360° coverage, and thus, capture more license plates located in the vicinity of the patrol vehicle. The SharpX is now also available in a new portable mobile kit, containing up to four cameras, a pre-wired processing unit with all the necessary cables, allowing users to move their ALPR equipment quickly from one vehicle to another as needed.
