United States – Latin America. Sales of computer equipment in Latin America will grow by 13%, a total of 27 million units, a low number even if the technological challenges facing the region are taken into account.More than five years ago, Latin Americans were reluctant to be a technician, but the use of cell phones has allowed IT to enter the lives of the population; however, for the business and government sectors, the immersion in computer systems was faster, because it helps improve productivity and reduce costs.
Approximately half of the 27 million computers to be sold in Latin America have been manufactured in Brazil and Mexico.
The president of Microsoft Latin America, Hernán Rincón, commented that in the region there are between 100 and 120 million computers, one in six Latin Americans has an information equipment and broadband barely reaches 20%, having that about 35% of the population has access to the Internet.
According to Microsoft data, Latin America has grown in terms of technology and the main markets are Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Venezuela.
