Latin America. The company RecFaces announced the virtual panel entitled "Facial Biometrics + Technological Collaboration = Safer and More Efficient Latin American Airports", which took place on July 30 at 9:00 a.m. (CST time). The event brought together specialists from RecFaces, Milestone Systems, Keenfinity Group and members of the Latin American airport industry to discuss how facial biometrics and integrated solutions were revolutionizing security management, operational efficiency and user experience.
In a scenario of steadily increasing air flow in the region – with more than 42 million passengers registered in January 2025 and a year-on-year increase of 7.7% in March – the digitalisation of the airport sector was established as a priority.
"The transformation of airports is not just a trend, it is a matter of confidence on the part of passengers around the world. Facial biometrics allows passengers to live a safer, faster and more personalized experience, without losing sight of respect for their privacy," said Kristina Sharýkina, Director of Business Development for Latin America at RecFaces.
During the panel, the main challenges faced by Latin American airports were addressed, such as infrastructure limitations, pressure on operational security systems, and the need to offer more agile processes to users. Facial biometrics was presented as a strategic tool to improve control, boarding and surveillance.
Experts explored technologies that combined video surveillance, management software and intelligent analytics—such as Bosch VMS, Milestone XProtect, and RecFaces facial recognition solutions—to create safer, more efficient, and more sustainable airport environments.
"Airport security is becoming progressively more complex and demands unified solutions that can address several challenges simultaneously." In my experience, technology collaboration is the way to achieve more robust security and smoother operation. When systems communicate with each other, not only is protection improved, but the passenger experience is also optimized," said Arturo Aguirre Preciado, national sales manager of Keenfinity Group.
During the day, the need to achieve technological interoperability, comply with regulations on personal data protection and maintain the digital convenience that passengers have come to expect was also discussed.
