International. Vertiv launched the Vertiv Power UPS 9000, a high-power-density, energy-efficient uninterruptible power supply (UPS) unit with a compact size.
The system has been designed to support IT applications ranging from traditional computing to high-density applications and is available in UL and CE certified models, from 250 to 1250 kW per unit.
The Vertiv Power UPS 9000 has been designed for high power density as well as high double-conversion efficiency of up to 97.5%. In addition, the system allows for quick and easy installation, with wiring entry at the bottom and top, as well as backflow protection and grounding fault kit options integrated into the system without the need for additional space for on-site installation. The units can be deployed anywhere in the world, reducing procurement and maintenance inconsistencies, delivery delays, and downtime.
"The Vertiv Power UPS 9000 has been designed to maximize reliability and efficiency, as well as complexity and footprint," said Giovanni Zanei, vice president of high power at Vertiv. "With its modular structure and high power density, it will deliver the reliable, energy-efficient power protection that data center customers are looking for to protect traditional and blended AI applications."
The Vertiv Power UPS 9000 is Vertiv's most efficient UPS in its class and has a 32% smaller footprint than previous generations. It is compatible with the Vertiv Energy Core lithium-ion battery cabinet and other battery technologies, such as throttle acid (VRLA) and nickel-zinc batteries.
Unique, separate controls as well as dual, hot-swappable communication boards allow for operation of each module independently. In the event of a failure, the affected module can be isolated individually to protect the other modules and enable uninterrupted operation. The continuous-duty, solid-state static bypass switch optimizes the bypass line and the system allows for hot-swapping and servicing, upgrades and maintenance without downtime.
The Vertiv Power UPS 9000 can be activated with the Vertiv Next Predict, a preventive maintenance strategy with advanced monitoring, data-driven health analytics, and insights that optimize site operations. By leveraging AI and machine learning algorithms to monitor real-world equipment conditions and measure equipment health, Vertiv offers a complete solution for optimal life and performance.
In Vertiv's labs, Vertiv engineers subjected the Vertiv Power UPS 9000 to extensive Engineering Validation Testing (EVT) and Design Validation Testing (DVT) under a wide range of operating conditions to confirm its reliability and performance in real-world scenarios. In addition, it passed environmental, performance, and out-of-normal case tests, including debris protection tests, structural seismic integrity and resistance tests, as well as surge and voltage drop tests, all of which simulated the extreme conditions the system can cope with.
