Claro unifies the security of its critical infrastructure in Puerto Rico

Claro unifica la seguridad de su infraestructura crítica en Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico. Claro has optimized its security and visitor management, improving cybersecurity and increasing efficiency by integrating 1,200 cameras and 1,400 doors in 250 locations throughout the island.

Claro is recognized as a critical telecommunications infrastructure company by both the Puerto Rican and U.S. governments. Therefore, it is essential for the company to strictly comply with the rules that govern it, among which is the implementation of effective access control in all its facilities. However, the company's existing access control system had become obsolete due to a lack of updates. For this reason, a modernization project was initiated with Genetec to strengthen corporate security.

Solution

  • Unified and intuitive electronic security: Every security task is optimized within the unified platform. The team can easily manage access control and videos, and respond to alarms. They also use the Security Center Mobile app for remote management.
  • Simplified visitor management: Operators can easily enroll visitors, assign physical access rights, and track visitors' movements through their spaces. They can also generate reports to support audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Improved cybersecurity and redundancy: Thanks to Genetec Streamvault, the Claro team has strengthened cybersecurity and redundancy. The infrastructure solution is highly scalable and comes with the latest cybersecurity standards.
  • Hassle-free upgrade project: Claro needed the system to be fully available during the transition to Security Center.

"Very few platforms offered this level of product compatibility, and if they did, it was partial. With Genetec we discovered that Security Center allowed us to integrate with practically all the platforms we had," said Arodis Suazo, head of Security at Claro Puerto Rico.

Results
Today, the unified security platform has not only helped the Claro team expand capabilities and improve security, but has also made it possible to integrate various services to improve the operator experience.

"From the beginning, Genetec has been present, supported us through the implementation and management of access control and video surveillance, and helped us with system integration and several other solutions," added Suazo.
