Motorola improves broadband for mission-critical Tetra radios at CES

Motorola mejora la banda ancha para radios Tetra de misión crítica en el CES

International. The new Dimetra Connect solution and Tetra MXP660 radio harness the power of broadband to keep field officers seamlessly connected wherever their work takes them.

Motorola Solutions announced its new Dimetra Connect solution and Tetra MXP660 radio that allow field officers to automatically switch between land mobile radio (LMR) and broadband networks. Together, they help teams stay connected to their communications lifeline, supporting critical collaboration, productivity, and security.

"The ability to automatically switch from MRL to broadband when we enter buildings or densely built-up areas is essential to our missions," says Mogens Sandberg Brix, an officer with the Greater Copenhagen Fire Brigade. "Our teams can stay connected while fighting fires or venturing through countless harsh environments, without losing sight of their priority of protecting life and property."

Dimetra Connect's design protects field officers' attention by automatically switching between terrestrial (Tetra) and broadband backbone radio networks without manual intervention, while maintaining users' preferred features and conversation groups.

The new MXP660 carries all the features of a mission-critical Tetra radio from Motorola Solutions, with advanced capabilities, including built-in LTE, AI-trained background noise suppression for clear audio, and high-power streaming for greater operational range.

"Tetra will continue to play a critical role in mission-critical voice communications for public safety agencies and enterprises," said Ildefonso De La Cruz Morales, Critical Communications Analyst at Omdia. "Innovations like Dimetra Connect are enabling organizations to invest in a communications roadmap with proven and reliable LMR voice communications at the center, leveraging broadband to expand coverage while reducing upfront infrastructure costs."

"The design of the new MXP660 builds on the functionality and ease of use of the reliable Tetra devices that Motorola Solutions customers are accustomed to," said De La Cruz Morales. "Users maintain their existing workflows and reap the benefits of integrated LTE and enhanced connectivity through Dimetra Connect, all without additional training requirements."

Denmark's Sikkerhedsnet (SINE) network will be one of the first to deploy Dimetra Connect to deliver greater safety, security and operational performance to its field officers. It is one of thousands of radio communication systems from Motorola Solutions, operating from individual sites to nationally scalable solutions around the world, including Austria's Tetron Digitalfunk, Norway's Nødnett and Portugal's SIRESP.
