New president of ALAS, Manuel Zamudio, speaks for Ventas de Seguridad

Nuevo presidente de ALAS, Manuel Zamudio, habla para Ventas de Seguridad

Latin America. The executive has more than 25 years linked to ALAS, within which he has served as an instructor, lecturer and volunteer member of the different national committees of the organization.

"I have always been passionate about witnessing and promoting technological advances, seeking to help users have a smarter and safer world. That has given me the opportunity to meet people from many countries and to be able to interact with leading companies in the sector and project the advances of technology in Latin America, all of which has always fulfilled me," he said.

Asked about what his priorities will now be in the exercise of his new position, Zamudio said that his intention is: "first of all, to give continuity to the great work that the people who preceded me have done, to close some issues that are still pending from past administrations, to adjust and design since the market, companies and users are changing."

Currently, ALAS has a presence in 11 countries in the region. According to its new president, the organization will seek to expand its borders even further.

"We know that we need another 11 or 12 to have full coverage in the territory. Well, it's time to roll up your sleeves and get to work. We want to increase the presence of the association in major events, continue to be protagonists and carry the voice, image and flag of ALAS members throughout Latin America."

Election and Transition
Within the framework of Expo Seguridad Mexico 2024, the annual meeting of directors was held in which Manuel Zamudio of Axis Communications was made official as the new president of ALAS. At the meeting, which was attended by 14 directors in person and virtually, the team that will accompany Manuel on the Executive Committee was formed.

Daniel Banda (SoftGuard) as first vice-president, Diego Madeo (Garnet) as secretary, Martín Gasulla (Hanwha Vision) as treasurer and Francisco Sánchez (CAME) as second vice-president and in charge of the coordination of the National Committees, were unanimously elected as part of this committee.

The new Executive Committee, currently led by Alberto Álvarez as CEO, proposes new challenges to generate more value for associates and to continue professionalizing the industry.

Before the Board of Directors, Zamudio presented his 3 main objectives that are focused on maintaining the operation and activities of ALAS in a stable and profitable way, positioning ALAS more strongly in the different countries and in relation to the other associations and resuming the ALAS Summit as the main event of the Association for 2025.

Previously, during the Latin American Breakfast, of ISC West Las Vegas, and in front of about 120 people (mostly members), the ALAS Annual Assembly was held, in which the management of the outgoing directors was approved and Elisa Garza (GSI), Giovanni Cordero (Motorola Solutions), Giovanni Cordero (Motorola Solutions), Giovanni Cordero (Motorola Solutions), Giovanni Cordero (Motorola Francisco Sánchez (Came) and Elkin Porras (Alarm.com).

There, the Association thanked the previous management, chaired by Pilar Gómez (Anixter), together with Ricardo Pulido (JCI), Diego Páez (HID) and Gustavo Beltrán (ex-CAME), indicating that it has grown in recent years hand in hand with the National Committees and that it has acquired local relevance in each of the countries, thanks to its alliances with different chambers. government entities, associations and expos, while opening up spaces for end users within the entire ecosystem.

"The idea will be to continue strengthening this and re-think the different perspectives to take the Association to the next level and in line with the current challenges of the market," ALAS reported.
