International. From now on, data-driven video management software provider Milestone Systems will adhere to such regulation when designing complex systems that incorporate Artificial Intelligence.
The main objective of the international code of conduct for organizations developing advanced AI systems is to encourage the creation of safe and reliable technology around the world.
This agreement was reached by G7 leaders at the end of October 2023 and sets out a set of fundamental principles that the world's most influential democracies must follow.
Thomas Jensen, CEO of Milestone Systems, argues that companies should not passively wait for their regulation, but should take proactive steps to identify and resolve shortcomings and challenges that may arise in relation to the use of AI they develop.
"At Milestone, we are taking significant steps to address the potential limitations of the tools we develop. By adopting the G7 Code of Conduct, we reaffirm our commitment to develop our software with the fundamental principles of trust, transparency and accountability in mind".
The G7 AI Code of Conduct is available online.
European AI Act
Milestone's decision coincides with the European Union's approval of its own law on Artificial Intelligence.

"While we applaud the passage of the AI Act, we know that its implementation will take time. We must not stifle innovation, but to avoid a potential backlash from both society and regulators, companies developing AI systems must strive to create trustworthy AI", Jensen concluded.
