Colombia. Two products of the company Idis were tested by ethical hackers, who tried unsuccessfully to violate the security of the devices during a demonstration held at the last International Security Fair of Bogotá ESS+.
The products in question were the Idis DR-6516P 6500 H.265 4K series recorder and the vandal-resistant Idis 4K IR dome camera (DC-D4831HRX). Both devices are part of Idis DirectIP video solutions and are commonly used in the commercial and government sector.
"Idis has led the recognition of the importance of cybersecurity and since the emergence of IP video we are building the most robust, multi-layered defenses against hacking attacks and other cyber threats," said Joon Jun, president of the Global Business Division and Senior Executive Vice President of Idis.
The tests performed included ten types of attacks, namely Device Identification and Enumeration, Port and Service Scanning, Software Vulnerability Analysis, Penetration Testing, Brute Force Testing, Network Protocol Analysis, Man-in-the-Man Attack Testing, Denial of Service (DoS) Testing, Privilege Escalation Testing, and Data Security Testing.
Cybersecurity developments
All IDIS video technology has multi-layered cyber protection. Idis DirectIP allows a plug-and-play connection of all devices with instant camera operability. NVRs that have between 4 and 256 channels are protected by firewalls and two-factor authentication, mitigating the potential for human error associated with manually handling passwords for multiple cameras.
In turn, IDIS FEN (For Every Network) technology is an advanced DNS service that allows remote monitoring to be configured without knowledge of NAT routers, which facilitates the configuration of the system with a one-click connection, under the protection of a Secure Data Transmission (Transport Layer Security).
The solutions produced by Idis also feature iBank, a proprietary multimedia file system and database architecture, which is not based on commercial software and provides a solid and secure platform for data management, search and logging.
As for video evidence, it is protected by IDIS Chained Fingerprint technology, which makes it impossible to carry out undetected attempts, falsification or manipulation of images.
