Google Cloud establishes a technology hub in El Salvador

Google El Salvador

El Salvador. Google Cloud and the Government of El Salvador recently announced a strategic partnership to work on the Central American nation's digital transformation over the next seven years.

The agreement includes the creation of a legal entity and the opening of a Google office in the country, as well as the launch of a cloud experience center. Additionally, the functionalities of Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) will be used to advance the digital transformation of Salvadoran government, medical and educational services.

"This partnership with Google Cloud opens unprecedented avenues for innovation, economic growth and improved public services. Google's global expertise combined with El Salvador's boldness will redefine the technology landscape," said Nayib Bukele, President of the Republic.

It is expected that the creation of a GDC instance in the country will allow a greater proximity between the cloud infrastructure and the places where the data is generated in El Salvador.

"Cloud computing can transform Latin America and we will explore all those possibilities in El Salvador, benefiting its citizens and driving economic and technological development throughout Central America." said in turn the executive director of Google Cloud, Thomas Kurian.

Once legislative approval is obtained, Google Cloud and the government of El Salvador will work together to put cloud technologies at the center of the country's modernization effort in the areas of government, health and education.

Digital Government
The delivery of GDC makes the Government of El Salvador the first in Latin America to benefit from this technology. Thus, Google Cloud will contribute to digitize various government processes and projects such as electronic invoicing and permits. GDC is a portfolio of hardware and software solutions that extends Google Cloud infrastructure and services to the customer's data center or, on-premises, to the edge.

Bless you
El Salvador has chosen to incorporate Google Cloud's Artificial Intelligence technologies to give medical personnel access to real-time information. In this way, it seeks to improve the experience of people and the health of entire communities throughout the country.

Education
A unified Education Data Platform will be created, with the goal that educators, parents and public education leaders receive timely, efficient and consistent information. The initiative follows the adoption, in 2021, of Google Workspace as a collaboration platform for 83 government agencies and more than 1.5 million students and teachers.
