Snap One will invest US $ 65 million annually in R+D

International. The Snap One company announced the increase in resources allocated to software research and development, with the aim of improving the overall performance, reliability and scalability of its solutions.

Specifically, Snap One will invest $65 million a year, much of which will go to a 150-person software development team. Thus, the company prioritizes software updates that improve its products with more efficient backend processes, better interfaces and user experiences, as well as new integrations.

Moore also indicated that "if we continue to launch innovative remote hardware products and services, and integrate new third-party solutions, software investments will ensure greater customer reliability across our partners and brands."

These initiatives seek to strengthen Snap One's cloud infrastructure to support the growth of remote monitoring, make all backend systems scalable in the future, resolve bugs, ensure interoperability, and develop new features and experiences.

"One of the biggest challenges of the residential and commercial continuous integration industries has been the tendency for systems to lose functionality, interoperability or simply become obsolete as they age. Our engineers extend the capacity, value and lifespan of hardware through powerful software upgrades, delivering long-term benefits to the consumer."

Cybersecurity enhancements

According to Alex Mann, senior vice president of Engineering for Cloud, Data Science and Cybersecurity at Snap One, the software team's work is vital to stay ahead of malicious actors, increase cloud capabilities and maintain reliability as demands on data centers and other infrastructure increase.

"We fix more than 20 vulnerabilities every month to get ahead of hackers, which is a never-ending battle," he said. "At the same time, we continuously expand our cloud storage and processing capabilities to deliver 99.95 percent reliability in more than 100 countries."

In both the short and long term, Snap One sees these investments as a critical competitive measure to keep pace with the rapid pace of IoT device launches, improve the usability and attractiveness of its products, and ensure the stability and security of the platform.
