Colombia. The National Police of this country selected a new facial recognition software, with the purpose of improving citizen security and effectiveness in the identification of people with legal requirements.
The software belongs to the Spanish company Herta and will be implemented for the city of Medellín.
Herta's facial recognition software will allow the Colombian National Police to expedite the identification of people wanted by justice in various situations, which will translate into an effective tool to fight crime and improve security in the country. This technology will allow to quickly and accurately identify those people who present legal requirements, thus optimizing resources and time in police operations.

In this sense, the local Mayor's Office announced the commissioning of 80 intelligent facial recognition cameras, located at strategic points of the city, public transport and places of greater affluence.
These cameras have integrated a database that contains the profiles and identification by facial comparison of 19,000 people, required with the arrest warrants in force and that is expected to considerably increase the operability and effectiveness of the authorities in the search for those responsible for high-impact crimes.
Herta stressed through an official statement that its software stands out for its accuracy and ability to handle large databases, something fundamental for an institution like the National Police of Colombia, which faces a wide range of challenges in the field of security and public order.
