International. Hanwha Vision has just launched its new SolidEDGE camera, which has a built-in internal solid-state hard drive that doubles as an embedded server.
"This is the first camera of its kind to use SSD technology, achieving better energy efficiency and becoming an environmentally friendly alternative, unlike traditional video surveillance systems", the company said in a statement.
The South Korean manufacturer also indicated that by using the new device companies will be able to reduce the operating costs of security and surveillance tasks.
"We are incorporating energy efficiency features into our solutions to support global energy sustainability goals without compromising safety," said Andy Ryu, CEO of Hanwha Vision.
Serverless video surveillance
Another noteworthy feature of the new equipment is its serverless configuration, which significantly reduces energy consumption, eliminating the need to have separate servers in temperature-controlled data centers, with the consequent cost of electricity.
"We integrated solid-state storage directly into the body of the SolidEDGE. Wisenet WAVE software that can work at the edge was also pre-installed. Additionally, the SolidEDGE camera can connect and record video from up to five additional cameras," the company emphasized.
This consolidation of functions allows data and recordings to be captured without time lag.
Artificial intelligence
Thanks to Edge AI, the SolidEDGE camera can control and transmit metadata. This reduces the operational load on servers and minimizes energy consumption. This also eliminates common problems of power failures, caused by network overloads or exceeding storage capacity.
Video recorders with artificial intelligence (NVR) also improve the efficiency of data analysis, enabling the rapid identification and retrieval of relevant information. These results increase operational efficiency and significantly reduce energy consumption.
