Latin America. A recent report notes that China is under the world's most intense CCTV surveillance, and globally, many more cities are under increasing surveillance, analyst Comparitech revealed.
On the other hand, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Puebla, CDMX, Medellín, Bogotá, Santo Domingo, Lima, Asunción, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo are the Latin American cities that appear in this Top 150 list (see list below).
In 2019, IHS Markit predicted that there would be one billion surveillance cameras worldwide by the end of 2021. In 2017, he also suggested that China would have 626 million cameras within three years, which is backed up by reports that the country has around 600 million cameras within its Skynet project.
Based on a population of 1430 million (using the most recent UN estimate), IHS Markit's figure of 626 million cameras means there are 439.07 cameras per 1000 people in China. That's almost one camera for every two people.
This report analyzes public CCTV cameras, including those installed in public buildings, those used by law enforcement, on public transport, and traffic cameras with surveillance capability (i.e. automatic license plate recognition). However, in some cases, it may not be clear which cameras are included, meaning that some private camera figures may also be included in the totals.

In the global measurement, Hyderabad, Indore, Delhi, Singapore, Moscow, Baghdad, Seoul, St. Petersburg, London and Los Angeles are the 10 most monitored cities outside China (based on the number of cameras per 1000 people).
