Latin America. Latam Airlines made an investment of close to US$15 million to bring all its operations to Google Cloud cloud services, which will stop using the four data centers it has in Latin America.
These four data centers are located in Brazil and Chile (two in each country) and with the new technological migration, the airline ensures that they will stop emitting 3,400 tons of carbon dioxide.
According to Juliana Ríos, Chief Information Officer of Latam, for the media Diario Financiero, this investment will allow savings from US $ 7 million per year.
"I am very proud of my team for such a great achievement. Special thanks to Francisco Javier García Cortés and Felipe Andrés Fuentes Vivallo for leading this initiative so brilliantly. To our colleagues at Google Cloud, a special thank you for working side-by-side with us during this journey. This is another important step to continue scaling the digital experience for our customers and employees," Juliana said through her LinkedIn account.
The company also announced that it is working with Google on the digitization of several business processes, including foray into mobile solutions, smart applications and real-time data analysis, with the aim of making users have a better experience.
"With this step, Latam migrated to a non-physical platform that provides scalability, flexibility and cost efficiency," Eduardo López, president of Google Cloud Latin America, explained to the same media.
