Cloud specialist strengthens its participation in the Colombian market

Akamai

Colombia. Akamai Technologies, a company specialized in cloud, announced an increase in its presence in Colombian territory to strengthen its position in a market that it considers key to its growth strategy.

Claudio Baumann, General Manager of Akamai for Latin America, highlighted that Colombia is positioned as a focused country in the growth and strengthening strategy in Latin America; it represents a market of high potential due to its strong and stable long-term macroeconomic management. Another relevant factor is the accelerated movement of the business and government sector towards its path to digitalization. According to the executive, Colombia could rank as the third or fourth country in business importance in the region for Akamai behind Brazil and Mexico.

With 25 years of experience, Akamai provides a suite of cloud computing, security, and content delivery solutions wherever a business connects online. Likewise, the strengthening of this firm in the Colombian market provides its clients and channels with expertise, proximity and easier access, through the local presence of the brand.

Claudio Baumann reported that today Akamai already has important customers in the different industries of Colombia; However, having a presence of experts in this country will allow us to understand and understand the most pressing needs of the public and private sectors. "On the other hand, our channels will continue to provide technical and commercial capacity, supporting our customers at all times during the entire business cycle, from the identification of possible application opportunities of our services to the technical activities of implementation and support."

Akamai's primary goal is to make the millions of transactions that occur on the Internet feasible and viable through a widely distributed platform at the edge and in the cloud, by having the most distributed service infrastructure on the planet. With this, this firm is able to provide a set of essential solutions in the digital life of organizations:

"From the end of 2022 to the beginning of 2023 we have increased our investment in infrastructure in Colombia by more than 50%, with servers distributed in the main internet connection points in cities such as Bogotá, Cali and Medellín," said Claudio Baumann.

The executive added that Akamai arrives in Colombia with the aim of addressing different problems such as cybersecurity since this is the second country in Latin America that had the most cyberattacks in 2022, according to IBM's annual X-Force Threat Intelligence Index report.

Finally, Claudio Baumann mentioned that Akamai is the trusted partner of 27 of the 30 largest banks in the world, the top 10 video streaming providers, as well as 16 of the 20 most prominent retail companies on the planet and 7 of the 10 most renowned pharmaceutical companies.
