Latin America. With the introduction of its new IP 5000 HD and MP camera family, with resolutions of up to five megapixels, Bosch offers high-performance technology for a wide range of typical surveillance needs.
By the end of 2013 this series will consist of thirteen cameras in four different designs - microdome, bullet, indoor and outdoor domes - offering a number of resolutions to meet different image detail requirements and different SD card storage options. Various options for outdoor installation include resistance to vandalism, water and dustproof, as well as IR LEDs for night surveillance. In addition, variable focal length lenses simplify field of view adjustment.
All new cameras incorporate two special bandwidth reduction technologies. First, Dynamic and Intelligent Noise Reduction (iDNR) adapts the degree of noise reduction in real time based on an analysis of the scene content. For example, this reduces bandwidth by up to 50 percent when no motion is present, but as soon as an important object is detected, it increases bandwidth to capture maximum detail.
Second, bandwidth is further reduced by zone-based encoding mode which allows compression parameters to be adjusted for up to eight user-defined regions. This means that less interesting regions are compressed, leaving more bandwidth available for important parts of the scene.
In addition, two particular regions of interest can be selected and controlled by the electronic panning, tilt and zoom (e-PTZ) remote control. Combining these special video streams with the main video stream allows for closer inspection of the details without losing knowledge of the situation.
Additional features include Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), privacy mask, audio capability, and a working temperature range from a minimum of -30 to 50 degrees Celsius. The cameras are supplied with Bosch Video Client PC software which features an easy-to-use interface to support simple installation and configuration. It provides live viewing of multiple cameras, playback, forensic search, and data export.
Finally, an app, available for free from the App Store, allows access to high-definition surveillance footage on an iPad or iPhone from anywhere, even over low-bandwidth connections. "Our Video Security application gives you complete control of all your cameras, horizontal and vertical scanning, to do zoom and focus functions," explains Ian Crosby of Bosch Security Systems.
The new cameras integrate seamlessly with a wide range of software and recording security solutions from Bosch, as well as from other vendors, as they are compatible with ONVIF.
