HID Global Expands iClass SE Platform with Credential Coding Solution

altInternational. HID Global announced that its new iClass SE® Encoder, a desktop solution and development toolkit (DTK) that allows organizations to instantly encode and issue cards using a single device, is now available.

The multi-technology coder makes it easy for customers to transition from current technologies to the security, adaptability and mobility of the company's iCLASS SE access control platform and Seos® ecosystem.  The solution gives organizations the convenience of coding a wide range of current and future technologies, giving customers the option to create and manage credentials and configure readers locally or through HID's™ Secure Identification Services.

"With our iCLASS Encoder, migrating existing systems to operate with our iCLASS SE platform, in order to gain access control with a higher level of security and mobile access, has never been easier. This solution enables customers to code and format a wide range of technologies when they require it, through a simple process," said Helmut Dansachmueller, vice president of product marketing, credentials and integrated technologies at HID Global. "HID Global's goal is to provide technology users with flexibility and confidence in the investment made in access control systems throughout the transition process to future, high-frequency technologies."

The iCLASS SE encoder provides a completely open solution and allows organizations to encode various credential technologies, including Genuine HID® and third-party credentials, in order to update existing card populations for use with iCLASS SE platform readers. In order to achieve maximum interoperability, the solution is compatible with Seos, iCLASS SE, iCLASS® standard, MIFARE® Classic and MIFARE DESFire® EV1.  The encoder also supports HID Prox® (125 MHz), for encoding Prox credentials and for migrating from HID Prox to high-frequency technologies.

Users can seamlessly and easily migrate from one technology to another, simply by extracting access control data from a card and typing it into the new credential, without needing to manually enter the data or understand the details of the encryption. To gain an even greater degree of security, users can "wrap" their access control data in a Secure Identity Object (SIO) and then rewrite it on the same card. The encoder, based on an open architecture, allows SIOs to be added to the full range of supported cards, including MIFARE and DESFire credentials.

HID Global also launched a flexible structure of applets for credential coding, based on a very easy to manage system.  Users install only the applets they require for the credential technologies they currently need, and can add applets to support other current or future credential technologies over time. In addition, the iCLASS SE encoder can be programmed by the user and can be updated, for greater versatility.

The encoder is part of HID Global's award-winning iCLASS SE platform and the Seos ecosystem, which enables customers to implement a combination of credential technologies, traditional smart cards and smartphones with Near Field Communications (NFC) technology that meet the specific needs of their access control system. HID Global also plans to offer credential encoding capabilities through its LINE of FARGO® card printers and its HID Secure Identification Services portal.
