Ecuador. In the city of Guayaquil, the road safety project was recently presented, which seeks to strengthen the protection of buses, taxis and school expresses with the installation of 24,000 security cameras with panic buttons in 6,000 vehicles of this class.
The contract, led by the Transit and Mobility Agency (ATM) is around US$6,430,000, which determines the equipment of 4 surveillance cameras for each transport unit: 2 interior, 1 rear, 1 front.
The cameras will record on a storage disc everything that happens inside and outside the units, while the panic button, when activated, will allow live monitoring with the security device composed of the Integrated Traffic and Transport Control Center (Ccitt), the ECU911 and the Corporation for Citizen Security of Guayaquil.
The mayor of Guayaquil, Cynthia Viteri, said that the execution time of this project will be fulfilled within the next 240 days.
* The brand of the equipment was not revealed by the ATM or by the local mayor's office.
