Why strengthen cybersecurity with expert advice

Gestión de la ciberseguridad

Latin America. Getting advice from experts when looking for cybersecurity solutions, at a business and commercial level, is vital. It allows you to have a global vision of the implementation, quality support and proven strategies.

Unlike our everyday choices, cybersecurity for business and commerce cannot be, under any conditions, a Do It Yoursefl (DIY) that arises from what seems to work best or so far has not failed. According to the Online Trust Alliance (OTA), cyberattacks in 2018 caused more than $45 billion in losses globally. For the first half of 2021, the Office for Financial Crimes Enforcement (FinCEN) reported that ransomware attacks cost more than $590 million in the United States alone.

The exponential increase in cybercrime will continue to trend, as more and more organizations manage their information in digital format and store it in the cloud, or their own servers connected to the web to facilitate access. Cybersecurity Ventures, an international acceleration program for cybersecurity startups, expects global cybercrime costs to grow by 15% over the next five years, reaching $10.5 trillion annually by 2025.

So, since companies have sensitive, private and robust information, they require the best defenses to prevent it from falling into the theft and extortion of ransomware. In that sense, the Spanish firm HelpRansomware considers that the worst mistake that can be made is to try to decrypt the information with tools that are Online, and indicates that, when an attack is received, it is best to resort to a specialist.

Cybercrime takes advantage of Internet of Things (IoT) systems and devices, when they are configured incorrectly or without maintenance. For this 2022, cybersecurity will be a topic present in the agendas of companies. For example, in Mexico, 58% of organizations will increase their budget for this item by more than 5%.

The level of relevance this issue is taking is undeniable. According to the State of Physical Security in EMEA report on 2021 by Genetec, a technology provider of unified security solutions, 67% of companies plan to prioritize improving their cybersecurity strategy. Where cyber resilience, as a shared responsibility in the value chain and the delivery of services, requires greater collaboration between suppliers, partners and end users.

Ciberseguridad

Rabindranath Parra, Manager of Engineering and Professional Services at Genetec, indicated that "to fully assess the cyber risks of end users or business partners, implement and perform maintenance of a facility, it is necessary to have the advice of an expert every step of the way. This will increase the reliability and performance of the systems implemented and mitigate risks."

Importance of professional services in cybersecurity

Not all companies have installed capacity to manage their cybersecurity, it also takes them on average 6 months to detect a security breach that can be exploited by cybercrime. In addition, hiring professional services for electronic security projects allows to discuss, from perspectives outside the subjective bias of the organization, the design of the solution, which allows to identify the possible risks and manage the preliminary tests before the implementation.

In the case of Genetec's professional services, they have pre-deployment planning, implementation assistance, to timely solve any problems, as well as subsequent support, where they help keep the system running efficiently and ensure that everyone involved is constantly informed about optimization and expansion opportunities.

The added value of this offer is that, when employed from the beginning of a project, all cybersecurity requirements and best practices will be taken into account in the construction, installation and ongoing maintenance of the solution. Providing peace of mind and ensuring the long-term success of the project.
