Analysis: Full Color + SMD technology, a new trend for the security industry

Dahua cámaras colorLatin America. The world of video surveillance and Artificial Intelligence never stops and is that for companies like Dahua Technology where more than 6000 engineers in the plant work daily on new applications or products that provide a solution to the needs and challenges found in each country; to work for a safer society to have a smarter life is to always take a step forward in terms of innovation. Under this premise, the company of Chinese origin, world leader as a provider of IoT solutions and services for video exchanges, has brought to Colombia in this 2021 Cameras with Full Color technology that allow viewing color images even in conditions of very low luminosity.

"We understand that there is a pressing need in video surveillance to obtain clearer and more colorful images, this is not only an eloquent aspect but also practical, since the clarity and vividness of an image usually mean more information when it comes to security, and for Dahua Technology Colombia it is important to publicize this technology at the national level, its benefits and characteristics in order to contribute to the safety of citizens and the effectiveness of the entities in charge of the protection of homes, retail, oil industry, buildings, among other market segments," says Chao Wu, General Manager of Dahua Technology Colombia.

According to a 2019 Security magazine report, many of the violent crimes are more likely to happen overnight in major cities. Not to go too far, in Colombia the Excellence in Justice Corporation presented in 2020 the crime clock based on the study of crimes that occurred in 2019, evidencing that the greatest presence of crimes in the country occurs between 6:00 PM and 3:59 AM, there are included: Domestic violence, motorcycle theft, common homicides, personal injury, sex crimes, theft from people and theft from residences.

If we ask ourselves why most crimes occur during the night, we find that one of the main reasons is the little possibility that the offender has of being identified; That is why Dahua Technology has brought to Colombia two series of Full-Color cameras: the LED series and the series without infrared (Non IR), which adopt large aperture lenses that collect and absorb a greater amount of light and present a more vivid and colorful image in a dark environment. The LED series cameras are equipped with warm light that serves as supplemental light in dark environments. Warm light also has another purpose and that is to deter intruders, which can significantly reduce crime in places like dark alleys or parks at night.

The two technologies make a perfect combination that is capable of identifying humans and vehicles in color even in low-light environments. It effectively filters out false alarms while retaining more useful details that can be easily verified through its built-in AI technology. The integration of these two technologies is the first of its kind in the industry, bringing unparalleled value to the brand's customers.

Non IR series cameras do not have a complementary light device or emit light like infrared cameras at night, meaning they will not interfere with ongoing activities or contribute to light pollution in the environment. In addition, they avoid reflections on rainy days and the attraction of small insects, making them an ideal silent security guard in dim places such as shops, parking lots and casinos.

The SMD system can easily process the visual information collected by the Full-Color cameras. With improved accuracy thanks to color imaging technology, Dahua SMD can effectively filter false alarms triggered by irrelevant objects such as pets, insects, leaves, branches, raindrops, lights, etc., focusing only on real threats: humans and vehicles.

With advanced Artificial Intelligence algorithms, the SMD system also supports the rapid search of recorded targets by extracting and classifying humans and vehicles from massive data collected in videos. Users can easily track and analyze past records using specific features such as factions of people and colors of vehicles, saving a great deal of time and work in retrieving events.

In addition, another advantage of this solution is its alarm display function, which allows you to clearly show if there is a human being or a vehicle entering the property. Backed by real-time visual evidence, users are unlikely to miss or misperceive the actual cause of the alarm.

When the two full-color and SMD technologies are combined, they are an excellent choice for clients with small and medium-sized projects, as all practical demands are met at a relatively low cost. It is also suitable for distributors and channel engineering companies with general intelligence requirements.

In general, the combination of Full-color and SMD technologies is nothing less than a pair of eyes with "eagle's eye" and a sharp mind, which is fully capable of meeting the demands of most ordinary users at a relatively low price. With its mission to "Enable a safer society and smarter life," Dahua Technology will continue to focus on "Innovation, Quality and Service" to serve its partners and customers around the world.
