Latin America. Milestone Systems released Device Pack 8.1 for the benefit of partners and customers using Milestone XProtect monitoring solutions.
One of the highlights of this release is the support for Digital Barriers' TVI wireless video streaming solution that features a proprietary codec that dynamically adjusts video image resolution as well as pixel density to match the bandwidth quality available for video streaming. In this way, TVI ensures the real-time distribution of highly reliable and protected video across mobile and other low-bandwidth networks from immediate response teams to control rooms and Accident & Emergency (A&E) units.
Another notable addition to Device Pack 8.1 is the support that XProtect will provide to the seventh-generation Sony 4k cameras and Samsung's WiseNet Lite series of cameras. This new release expands the number of Xprotect-compatible devices to more than 4,600 (plus several serial devices and other OEMs from OEMs that are not listed). 145 brands of hardware manufacturers are supported.
The compatibility guaranteed by the open platform technology they employ in Milestone solutions goes beyond cameras and encoders. In this delivery of the Device Pack, TVI's wireless video transfer integration enables reliable video distribution with near-zero latency from complicated operating environments or mobile units with limited or variable network connectivity. The integration allows the installation of portable cameras, built-in vehicle cameras and mobile video surveillance systems for public safety with which better operational performance, greater coverage of events and many other benefits are obtained.
A successful example of Digital Barriers' implementation is the live video broadcast (along with electrocardiograms (ECGs) and other vital signs data) by mobile emergency services units directly from ambulances to A&E teams waiting in the hospital for patients to arrive. The continuous transmission of data to the hospital, as well as visual information about the patient's condition, makes it possible to optimize the time of the initial clinical assessment, triage and coordination of preparations. This enables more accurate diagnoses and better outcomes for patients.
"The merger of Milestone's XProtect® and our class-leading TVI wireless video transfer solution enables immediate response units and other units operating in the field to broadcast video in real time and in an easy-to-use format to control rooms to support decision-making processes and operational effectiveness." explains Colin Evans, Chief Operating Officer of Digital Barriers. "The combined offering opens up a world of opportunities in a variety of sectors, including the military, police, health services, transportation, manufacturing, construction and natural resources."
The integration has been implemented in record time, the first test unit was exhibited at IFSEC 2015 (in London) last June. The complete integration between Milestone's XProtect® VMS and Digital Barriers' TVI solution was presented at the ASIS event, held at the end of September this year.
The advantages of milestone-digital barriers integration go beyond the possibility of using devices in connections with low and variable bandwidth. TVI employs a very strong encryption scheme, which protects the connection, even if public networks are being used for video transfer. Another protective feature is the configuration of a dedicated recording server in XProtect®: at all times it is possible to document the physical location of the stored video data, which ensures full compliance with data protection laws. TVI has already been marketed in more than thirty countries, highlighting the demand that exists in the market for infrastructure solutions that allow an efficient use of the available bandwidth.
"This is further testament to the power of Milestone's open platform technology," said Henrik Sydbo Hansen, head of Milestone Systems' Camera Partners program. "This rapid implementation of the TVI solution is a clear example of our continued commitment to providing the broadest and most comprehensive device support available on the market. We support new innovations in mobile technology by offering database-connected cameras milestone's device licensing model, similar to our encoder's licensing concept, one license per TVI server through 2017."
Other highlights of Milestone's new release
Milestone has expanded its support to seventh-generation Sony cameras, as well as Samsung's WiseNet Lite series cameras. The Milestone Device Pack supports Sony's first 4K resolution network security camera, the SNC-VM772R. The camera captures 4K video images at 30 frames per second with a minimum illumination of 0.06 lx, thanks to the large size of its image sensor, the backlit Exmo R type 1.0 CMOS, the high-speed image processing engine and the high-quality zoom lens.
Samsung's new WiseNet Lite camera series includes 1.3 MP and 2 MP Full HD IP cameras, available in different configurations and feature sets. WiseNet Lite cameras feature 60dB Wide Digital Dynamic Range (DWDR) and Lens Distortion Correction (LDC), which compensates for the image distortion that can occur with wide-angle lenses.
