International. HID Global was awarded the contract of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ireland (hereinafter the DRE), for the passport processing and issuance system, and additional will offer a new operating system for the Passport service of the Department.
Through the software system HID Integrale™ will provide a citizen-oriented case management solution that is connected to all passport and related document issuance services.
Craig Sandness, Senior Vice President and Head of Secure Issuance and Citizen Identification at HID Global, said: "We are very excited about this award, which expands our ties with Ireland. The new service will be designed to meet all the requirements established by the Department of Foreign Affairs in terms of information security and privacy, using technologies that are already being used to protect the security of the personal information of citizens in other countries."
Simon Coveney T.D., Irish Foreign Minister, said: "The body I lead will collaborate with HID Global to provide a more modern and efficient Passport Service to Irish citizens. Over the past few years, the passport service has implemented significant changes within the framework of the Passport Reform Program. In order to continue to provide world-class service, we partnered with HID to upgrade and replace the passport service's current operating system. As a result of the execution of this project, a standard, scalable and resilient technical platform will be obtained that will be able to process higher volumes of applications while maintaining the high security standards that characterize the Irish passport."
The new solution will be designed by HID Global in partnership with Irish companies AG2 and Inpute Technologies, and together with canadian organization WorldReach Software. It will offer a complete, customized and configurable solution that integrates all software, hardware and specialized equipment to meet the DRE's goal of running an efficient digital system for granting and renewing passports. HID Global is already a subcontractor of software and components of the existing e-passport program in Ireland.
In 2021, HID Global announced plans to create a new Centre of Excellence in Galway, Ireland, which will consolidate many of its European operations into new facilities and increase the number of employees from 180 to 300 over the next three years.
