Mexico. The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection of Tijuana (Sspcm) confirmed that the city currently has more than 1,050 video surveillance cameras connected to C2.
The police elements of the different units and sections reinforced the surveillance and rondines work in the 14 police districts, supported by drone patrols.
Now the objective of the Sspm is to have 1,500 cameras operating in the city which is expected to be achieved in the short term by increasing the number of connected devices weekly, as revealed by José Fernando Sánchez González, title of the Sspcm. "We want to have -a camera- in each quadrant of the city," said the director.
González also clarified that these cameras are coordinated with the C-4 but are independent devices to those operated on its own by the unit of the Attorney General's Office, so he stressed that the cameras will be located in points of high criminal incidence or traffic.
The municipal administration also stressed that during its first 100 days, the seizure of 300 weapons was achieved, and 220 police officers who were assigned as escorts were returned to the ranks of the corporation, and who now strengthen patrol work in the streets of Tijuana.
In addition, several training courses have been given to operational personnel and rescue bodies. As well as carrying out security diagnoses in educational establishments located in priority neighborhoods, in addition to promoting citizen linkage to strengthen security, through the "Neighborhood Alarm" program, and forming networks of neighbors through the "I Take Care of My Neighbor" program.
