International. HID Global introduced a software development kit (SDK) that meets Calypso's HCE (System Card Emulation) system standards for the safe and convenient issuance of mobile tickets on smartphones.
The certification specifies how to protect ticket data stored in the mobile device wallet, helping transport companies effectively combat fraud by preventing duplication, transfer or alteration of tickets.
"CNA is pleased to issue this first certification to the HID SOMA Atlas 4Digital SDK for its compliance with the security requirements established for the HCE Calypso mobile ticket issuance application. This solution offers transport companies flexible, fast and safe options that comply with the principles of the strictest mobile security programs," said Philippe Vappereau, CEO of calypso Networks Association.
Used by public transport networks and cities around the world, Calypso is an open standard for contactless ticketing applications using Calypso cards and NFC-enabled mobile phones. The Calypso Host Card Emulation (HCE) standard transfers the success of CNA standards to mobile devices. Calypso HCE (CHSC) security certification combines state-of-the-art assessment methodology with the most stringent requirements of mobile security programs.
"After becoming the first company in the world to receive, in 2018, the certification of compliance with the Calypso Light standard, this new achievement, a pioneer in the industry, allows HID to continue leading the way towards the implementation of state-of-the-art automated collection solutions by public transport networks. In addition to offering advanced security to prevent the cloning and interception of information, among other cyber threats, the HID SOMA Atlas 4Digital SDK makes possible a simpler and more agile mobile ticket issuance process," said Cesare Paciello, Vice President of Event and Mobility Solutions at HID Global.
Mobile tickets that work with the HID SOMA Atlas 4Digital SDK can be used with smartphones that feature NFC technology, as can any paper or card ticket that complies with the Calypso standard. The HID SDK also allows transport companies and authorities to substantially expand the range of devices with which customers can use the 'Tap and Pay' feature for their journeys, using Android smartphones and other NFC-enabled devices.
In addition, passengers can use their mobile devices to top up their Calypso transport cards, making it even easier to pay for and use public transport, while minimizing physical contact.
