Genetec presented the new generation of its AutoVu™ SharpV ALPR (Automatic License Plate Recognition) camera, which offers a future-proof fixed ALPR solution that can be easily deployed anywhere. It is built to deliver ALPR based on machine learning and vehicle analytics at the edge, ensuring high performance in all conditions.
Designed for fixed ALPR installations, the new SharpV can get up and running in a matter of minutes, thanks to multiple features such as integrated 4G/LTE/GPS and motorized lenses with zoom and autofocus. It is ideal for a number of applications, such as monitoring entrances and exits, capturing license plates at high speed on city streets and roads, managing parking lots and off-road facilities, as well as covering the main access points to the city for the vehicles sought.
With built-in illuminators, global shutter and high-resolution sensors, the SharpV delivers sharp, accurate and superior images to Full HD at all times: day or night, in slow local traffic or on fast highways. Thanks to its ultra-wide sensors, the updated SharpV can capture license plates in two lanes of traffic without losing accuracy. This means that fewer devices are needed to cover more places, reducing the total cost of ownership.
With AutoVu MLC™, a powerful integrated ALPR engine based on machine learning, the new generation of SharpV goes beyond license plate identification with a full suite of advanced vehicle analytics including vehicle classification, color recognition, speed estimation and steering tracking. Built-in machine learning VPUs (Vision Processing Units) also pave the way for new vehicle features and analysis of their behavior, which will be introduced in the future.
"The ALPR is an essential part of many organizations' toolkits. It can be used to gather operational and investigative information that helps solve crimes, enforce parking rules, and track traffic patterns in dense urban environments," said Stéphane Varin, AutoVu's chief product officer, Genetec, Inc. "The new SharpV is easier to deploy, can cover a wider field of view, and provides more data on vehicle identification and behavior," Concluded.

The new version of AutoVu SharpV also greatly simplifies installation and maintenance. Motorized lenses allow you to adjust zoom and autofocus remotely at the time of installation and during routine maintenance. The integrated cellular network equipment offers the possibility to connect using 4G/LTE (where available).
