Colombia. Milestone Systems' solution allows the Zonamerica project in the city of Cali, the so-called first exclusive free zone of services in the country, to add video solutions over time without having to change platforms and thus expand according to their needs.
This project only started the construction of the campus in October 2017. Since it was designed to be developed in phases, the area required an advanced security system that could be expanded according to its growth.
"In 2017 we carried out all the processes of validation of technologies and integral security that we were looking for the project," recalls Javier Correa, project manager of Informática El Corte Inglés, the company in charge of integrating the campus security system.
"It was when we decided to choose Milestone's video management software (VMS), because it is a totally open system, which allows the integration of all video processes and has the ability to receive signals from other subsystems," says Correa.
A project scalable over time
Zonamerica is a project that is sized to be completed in 25 years and must have a VMS that is scalable and remains in force. In addition to video surveillance, the Zonamerica Colombia complex has other subsystems that form a whole: access control, fire detection, perimeter security, security meshes and an additional component: the park's Wi-Fi security network.
These security subsystems are integrated through a platform called Corporate Archer. This software allows to build rules of interaction between the security systems and to let the operator know what happens in each subsystem to implement the corresponding actions.
Milestone's video management software collects all the video sources from the different security cameras, provides the information to the operator and allows to know alerts about risk situations. It is fully integrated with Arquero to meet the goals of the project. The open platform VMS has the functionality to integrate all video processes and the ability to receive signals from other subsystems.
"Everything has worked properly: the system represents a fairly favorable availability and at the time it empowered the management of the systems from Uruguay, the country where the idea of this free zone was born and where the main offices of Zonamerica are," adds Correa.
