International. Johnson Controls introduces an IP perimeter access control device with cyber protection for four doors. Software House's iSTAR Edge G2 from Tyco is one of the most flexible, powerful and secure perimeter access controllers on the market.
It represents a simple upgrade from other existing drivers, is OSDP compatible and incorporates high-security FICAM without additional third-party hardware, making it the ideal solution for commercial and government users for its high security standards.
iSTAR Edge G2 offers a Power over Ethernet (PoE) module that provides enough power to power two doors while allowing the controller to leverage existing network infrastructure to reduce installation costs. In addition, the iSTAR Edge G2 firmware provides users with a suite of advanced access control features, including OSDP and peer-to-peer clustering support, as well as a local database that supports up to one million cardholders.
With an iSTAR Edge G2, the overall reliability of the system is improved, as decisions are made at each individual door. The controller offers a robust local database of cardholders with more than one million staff files, as well as an event buffer and local alarm in case communication with the host is interrupted.
iSTAR Edge G2 offers advanced hardware-based cybersecurity protection with a secure execution environment (TEE); that is, a reliable, isolated environment within your CPU that runs parallel to the main Linux operating system. This ensures the confidentiality and integrity of the code and data uploaded to the device. The TEE allows you to reliably store keys and other cryptographic elements and manages a secure startup process to ensure authenticated sources of hardware and software.
Designed to significantly reduce installation and commissioning costs, the iSTAR Edge G2 can easily replace its predecessor, the iSTAR Edge, as hardware configurations and endpoints remain the same. When used with a built-in database tool in C•CURE 9000, iSTAR Edge users enjoy a smooth transition to the new technology. As it controls and supplies power to all access control devices at the door, installation costs are minimized. You can minimize service needs and reduce costs by including a flat rechargeable battery for the real-time clock (RTC) and using supercapacitors that provide power so that the system is not abrupt in the event of a power outage.
In addition, iSTAR Edge G2 features a more secure web interface for remote diagnostics, making your remote service options easier. Users will be able to manage and resolve performance issues remotely, from anywhere on the premises, anywhere in the world.
