A summary of GSX+ 2020

GSX+International. More than 4,500 registrants from 82 countries, along with 88 exhibitors, were the result of the five days of the Global Security Exchange Plus (GSX+) virtual fair, which was held from September 21 to 25.

"GSX+ was a bold and positive statement to the world that the professional security industry is committed to learning, sharing experiences and information, and building strong interpersonal relationships across borders, time zones and distances," said Godfried Hendriks, CPP, President of ASIS 2020. "I am thrilled with the energy and enthusiasm of ASIS membership and the security community at large, and I am already looking forward to GSX 2021, planned to take place in Orlando, which will combine the best of this virtual experience and our traditional life. The GSX+ Learning Lineup offered attendees more than 130 world-class safety education sessions over the course of the week, in five subject areas:

- Physical and operational security
- Risk management
- Digital Transformation / Information Security
- Leadership and management within organizations

Other popular GSX+ activities included the virtual marketplace, where attendees interacted with exhibiting companies to learn about their latest offerings. Visitors had the ability to schedule private meetings, chat with booth staff during Marketplace open hours, and use GSX+'s matchmaking and networking features to connect directly with speakers, vendors, and other attendees.

GSX+ 2020 kicked off on Monday, September 21 with a keynote address presented by Juan Manuel Santos, Colombia's two-term president and winner of the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize. In his speech, titled Leading with Hope, Not Fear: A Global Perspective, Santos reflected on what it takes to build bridges and create unity when the task seems insurmountable. Looking ahead, he also shared insights into the global economic landscape and what lies ahead for global security. In the afternoon, the welcome reception provided entertainment with an opportunity to network among peers and catch up on global connections with the attendance of 1,000 registrants.

On Tuesday it opened with the ASIS Europe Community Social. The main presentation that day was an eye-opening interview with Solvay CEO Dr. Ilham Kadri and the group's chief security officer, Werner Cooreman, titled Embracing the Future: Strategies for Building Resilience and Innovation. In this lively discussion, they covered a variety of preparedness strategies and tools needed to be agile in times of constant change, the values needed to support and retain top talent in a remote environment, and how the role of security has evolved in meeting recent challenges and evolution. Threats. In the afternoon, the happy hour of ASIS Women in Security and Young Professionals provided an excellent opportunity to build strong relationships within these important groups.

The third day of GSX+ began with the social community of Latin America (LATAM). Gen. Stanley McChrystal, a four-star general and former commander of U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan, helped celebrate Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on Wednesday, Sept. 23. General McChrystal spoke about Leading in Turbulent Times, including key leadership principles such as transparency and inclusion, harnessing the power of teams through relationships, leading by influence, a relentless approach to mission, and sharing a clear vision with everyone who must execute against them, all against them. the ever-changing backdrop of the ever-evolving remote workplace.

The final keynote presentation was made on September 24 by Keren Elazari, CISSP, security analyst, researcher and public speaker, entitled The Future of Cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is no longer about protecting secrets. It's about our way of life: from transportation systems to medical devices, to the manipulation of global markets and political campaigns. This talk was a journey through the world of cybersecurity, from the perspective of a hacker.
