International. HID Global highlighted being included in the Leaders quadrant in Gartner's "Magic Quadrant for Indoor Location Services (Global)" report. This is the first year that Gartner has placed a company in this quadrant. In last year's report, HID was positioned in the challenger category.
"We believe that being named a leader in this segment of the Gartner Magic Quadrant is a testament to our momentum in a rapidly expanding and highly flexible market within our product and solution portfolio," said Marc Bielmann, vice president and executive director of HID Global's identification technologies division. "We are committed to addressing the challenges related to our customers' basic location services in relation to asset tracking, employee safety and analytics tools for location."
According to Gartner's 2020 report, "Complex and changing usage situations are determining the requirements of both new and existing markets. Infrastructure and operations leaders need to evaluate vendors based on their ability to take advantage of different indoor location opportunities for end users and address new practical uses."
In the last year, HID Global says it has supported many of these uses by expanding its BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) beacon offering with credentials and safety devices for dangerous, man-down or emergency situations, disposable wrist beacons for medical institution patients, and low-cost mini beacons for single functions or a limited number of functions.
