Latin America. Monitoring services have greater growth potential in the residential sector. While in the commercial sector there is 30% of the potential of users for monitoring services in the residential there is 70%, the latter however is the least penetrated with active customers. Most monitoring centers focus on fighting for commercial customers while residential ones receive few offers.
In most cases, monitoring service providers argue that the low supply is due to low demand. It is claimed that users of household monitoring services are few and there is no interest... from the point of view of users, the offer of services is limited, unhelpful and quite traditional. The residential user does not perceive real benefits of a traditional alarm system such as those used at a commercial level. Arming/disassembling an alarm panel and protecting a certain space is not enough to attract the attention of the customer in this sector.
Increasing the coverage of the security system is a way to attract the residential customer. It means that not only the physical space (House or apartment) must be protected, but also the people who inhabit it must be protected, that is where the protection services of the family group have a place. These services critically increase the perception of service and the feeling of real security, protecting loved ones and not just physical goods.
Clearly there is a big difference between offering a traditional alarm system for the house and another that includes options such as locating the children using their mobile phone. Between both offers a residential user will easily select the second.
