Technologies for smart cities will be presented in Bogotá

Colombia. Visitors will be able to learn about innovations for facial recognition of suspects, the identification of gun shots and the reading of irregular vehicle license plates, among other advances.

Axis Communications, manufacturer of solutions for video surveillance, audio and IP access control, will present in Colombia a set of innovations for the creation of smarter and safer cities. At its stand at the International Security Fair E+S+S, the company will show what is already possible to do today in favor of the safety of citizens and habitability in urban centers of medium and large size.

To demonstrate how video surveillance cameras are getting smarter and smarter, Axis will showcase a PTZ camera (which makes panning, tilting and zooming movements) integrated into sound analysis software. Any gunshots, shattered display cases or recurring screams are detected by the system, causing the camera to focus directly on the event, and those responsible in the control room receive an automatic alert. The software, unpublished at the fair, is from the company Sound Intelligence, partner of Axis.

In another environment inside the booth, Axis will demonstrate how facial recognition can be a tool not only for smart cities, but also for offices, industries and hospitals that need to block the entry of unauthorized people. An Axis camera, combined with software from Spanish manufacturer Herta, will command the opening of a door after analyzing unique physical characteristics. The read and open process takes less than 1 second.

For vehicle access control, the same stand will have a traffic light that will turn on its green or red signals according to the license plate of the vehicle that is presented in front of the camera. Only registered vehicles receive the green signal to enter – whether in a parking lot, a gated community or a business condominium. In this case, axis' smart camera does all the processing of the Pegasus software, making the acquisition of a server unnecessary.

For traffic management on public roads, such as motorways and junctions, Axis will present its intelligent traffic management concept. The system allows to automatically identify vehicles stopped in unauthorized areas (which may indicate an accident), vehicles traveling in a prohibited direction (which may indicate the imminence of an accident) and even cars occupying exclusive tracks for buses.

Another useful application, which became possible after axis' acquisition of the company Citilog, is traffic light management at junctions according to vehicular flow: one road is open for circulation if there is a volume of vehicles, but closes the one that crosses when the demand on the other road is larger, reducing travel times in the city.

At its stand, Axis will also feature the participation of software partners, such as Milestone, Averics and ISS – Intelligent Security Systems.
