New Audio Interface with I/O Functionals for Network Cameras Introduced

Latin America. Axis Communications expands its product portfolio with the integration of its AXIS T61 series of interfaces, which allows you to add I/O and audio connectivity to Axis network cameras that do not have this functionality built in. In addition to facilitating the proper location of the network cameras and audio interface. The team provides a flexible and cost-effective solution for customers who benefit from audio capabilities and I/O ports, reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) of Axis cameras and delivering greater value.

Connected between the camera and the data switch, the new AXIS T61 series units use portcast, a unique feature that allows audio to be transferred digitally over the network cable between the camera and the interface. AXIS T6101 and AXIS T6112 interfaces will bring all the advantages of audio and I/O functionality to  different Axis cameras that do not have these built-in capabilities.

With the camera separate from the audio interface and I/O ports, customers can place both in a suitable position: for example, a discreet location for a small camera, with audio capture closer to the point of interest. By adding support for two-way audio, customers can benefit from listening to transactions and incidents; or communicating warnings to intruders. In the future, audio analysis, such as aggression detection, will also be supported.

Adding I/O ports provides different benefits. External sensors and detectors can be connected to input ports to trigger alarms, as well as notifications can be sent if connections are cut. External devices, such as relays, can be connected to the output ports to activate lights, lock/unlock doors, etc. With a discreet housing ready to be mounted on the wall or ceiling, AXIS T6112 also includes a built-in microphone.

Francisco Ramirez, Country Manager for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean at Axis Communications, commented: "Audio capabilities and I/O ports bring significant value to video surveillance systems, and adding this through AXIS T61 Series provides maximum flexibility. The portcast feature offers all the benefits of audio in an elegant, simple and cost-effective way. In the coming months, it will be available for a growing range of Axis cameras, in addition to those already supported."

Main features AXIS T61 series:

  • Adding audio and I/O capabilities for Axis cameras that don't have this built-in functionality
  • Additional IP address or VMS license not required thanks to portcast technology
  • Power over Ethernet for AXIS T61 interface and camera

Key features AXIS T6101 series:

  • I/O ports: two configurable digital inputs or outputs
  • Audio line in and out, 3.5mm jacks

Main features AXIS T6112 series:

  • I/O ports: two configurable digital inputs or outputs
  • Built-in microphone
  • Audio output, 3.5mm jack
  • Discreet housing

AXIS T61 Series allows you to add audio and I/O capabilities only to cameras where it's needed, without requiring additional IP addresses or video management software (VMS) licenses, while video and audio are delivered through a single stream. Installation is simple, and integration with an existing VMS is seamless. Customers just need to make sure that the camera's firmware supports portcast, and then the camera will act as if the audio and I/O ports are built-in.

AXIS T61 Audio and I/O Interface Series is available through Axis distribution channels and comes with a 3-year warranty.
